Jake Brewer, RIP [husband of Mary Katharine Ham]
HotAir.com ^ | 9/20/2015 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 09/20/2015 12:40:01 PM PDT by iowamark

It is with great shock and sadness that we offer our condolences and prayers to the family of Jake Brewer, the husband of Mary Katharine Ham, and the father of Georgia and a child on the way, as well as his colleagues and friends at the White House and Change.org. Jake died as a result of an accident while participating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer bicycle rally and fundraiser. He gave his life while trying to help others, a quality that Jake’s friends say is defining about him. Jake passed away yesterday at 34 years of age.

Mary Katharine published this statement on Instagram, along with a picture of their growing family:

We lost our Jake yesterday, and I lost part of my heart and the father of my sweet babies. I don't have to tell most of you how wonderful he was. It was self-evident. His life was his testimony, and it was powerful and tender and fierce, with an ever-present twinkle in the eye. I will miss him forever, even more than I can know right now. No arms can be her father's, but my daughter is surrounded by her very favorite people and all the hugs she could imagine. This will change us, but with prayer and love and the strength that is their companion, we can hope our heartache is not in vain-- that it will change us and the world in beautiful ways, just as he did. If that sounds too optimistic at this time, it's because it is. But there was no thought too optimistic for Jake, so take it and run with it. I will strive and pray not to feel I was cheated of many years with him, but cherish the gift of the years I had. In a life where nothing is guaranteed, Jake made the absolute, ever-lovin' most of his time with all of us. This is a family picture we took a couple weeks ago. It was taken because Jake, as always, was ready with a camera and his immense talent. All four members of our little, growing family are in it. I can never be without him because these babies are half him. They are made of some of the strongest, kindest stuff God had to offer this world. Please pray that he can see us and we'll all make him proud. God, I love him. Psalm 34:18, Philippians 1:3.

Nothing we can add would be adequate to the profound loss and sorrow which Mary Katharine, their families and their friends are suffering at the moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of them, and we’d ask our readers to join us. Later, we’ll ask a friend to give us a more complete recognition of Jake’s life, but we do not wish to unnecessarily disturb them during this time of shock and mourning.

God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.

Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.

In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.

Amen.

Everyone knows Mary Matalin is married to a lib loon. That is the way it should b. Everyone should know.

I have heard MKH talk countless times on BOR and Not a single time did she ever mention the fact that her husband worked for the WH. Any honest person would have disclosed that.....at least a single time.

Now this would be no big deal.....IF she was truly espousing Conservative principles. But she wasn’t. She was often pushing leftist ideas like gay marriage. And therein lies the rub.

Don’t pretend to be my friend while you are possibly getting your ideas and talking points directly from the White House.

As a former motorcycle rider whose last run ended with a speed wobble at 65 mph an me and the bike going in two different directions, it’s, “But for the grace of God,I’d have gone there, too.” My prayers are up for him and his family.

“What the heck kind of sad pile of trash are you? Why does love have to follow some sort of political boundary?”

It doesn’t and I never said it did.

I am addressing the issue of the professional political class, the harm it does and why the harm is done.

It is theater, not real and a true scam. It exists for sell perpetuation.

She would not have her cushy talking head job if she ever made such a disclosure.

As such, she never made one.

Some can see that for what it truly is, while others such as yourself will stay with your head in the sand making excuses. I am done making excuses for people PRETENDING to be my friend or to represent me.

Not sticking my head in the sand. I know full well and good that these people may not all fit neatly in a box with a bow for you. She may in fact be a stalwart conservative, who knows, and her husband may not be. Did Ronald Reagan’s son disqualify him from being a great conservative president? He’s all over MSNBC today discrediting all things conservative. I think we assume too much if we think that “X” news channel or “x” talk show host’s family is conservative, liberal, etc. They are entertainers and their families are individuals with their own thoughts/ideas.

My issue is that this woman just lost her husband, and the father to their young, children and there are those posting that they feel betrayed. Who gives a crap at this point what affiliation her husband was. Does it make you feel better if he was a lib? Does that make the loss any less significant?

The guy sounds like an Anti-American tool:

Hope the rest of the country fully celebrates Ahmed’s ingenuity as result of this, while his school/town failed him

(and for the record, I NEVER mourn Anti-American tools nor those that chose to marry them)

I don’t know. In my experience it’s Liberals who are hateful and intolerant of one of their own being married to a Conservative, not the other way around.

It makes me wonder whether their marriage was kept low key to protect him, rather than her.

Having ridden both bicycles and motorcycles, I’ll say something a lot of people don’t know. A fit, skilled bicycle rider can often achieve motorcycle speeds. At those speeds the bicycle rider will risk serious or fatal injury far more than the motorcyclist because the bicycle is less capable of really high speeds and it’s rider just cannot wear the heavy protective gear the motorcyclist wears.

These FReepers are no different than communists. Politics is their god. “Everything is political”. They live a life of blasphemy and sadness.

This question comes up way too often, and here it is:

What principle is it that causes two individuals with incompatible values to choose to live together intimately, and spawn offspring that will be torn spiritually and intellectually--perhaps even in gender identification--by the disparate behavior of their role models?

This is also the second time Fox News has stuck it's foot in it. First, they had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into admitting that George Will's wife worked for the Walker campaign. Now, without them ever revealing a thing, it turns out MKH’s husband was a rabid Omamunist, even a spreader of the AGW Superstition. The incestuousness is appalling.

Why does love have to follow some sort of political boundary?

But how do you even start a relationship with someone so entirely different than you, politically? Especially when you're seriously interested in politics.

Very sad. I highly recommend the book “End of Discussion.” It exposes the Left.

Love is blind! I never understood what Mary M saw in Snakehead Carville

Perhaps she IS blind? (physically) ...and deaf. ...and dumb.

Excellent rhetorical question! It’s so sad to see so many accentuate only the negative ...while this poor family suffers a great loss. THIS is one of the reasons our country is in the shape it presently finds itself in. We no longer follow God’s ways of addressing such events....not to mention following His ways regarding EVERYTHING else.

Sounds to me like he was working to undermine this nation.

Is he a human being created by God....or not? As Christians, should we weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice....or first check their political affiliations?

Sheeeeeeeshhhhh....
