There is a basic misunderstood fact about multiculturalism- All cultures defend their members and see others inferior. So, as an example, the Muslim women of Norway don’t commiserate with the rape, torture, and murder of a blond-haired, blue-eyed, non Muslim woman. This is near-universal and one of the many reason that multicult never improves societies, and sometimes destroys them.

I guess their behavior can be considered "normal" for desert-dwelling nomads in the 7th century. Unfortunately, the Islamists refuse to adapt to a post 7th century world. They are one of the few groups of barbarians that resisted attempts to civilize them. In the past, the West either civilized people or conquered them. In the case of the Islamist hordes, we have decided to be multicultural and welcome them, and to consider their culture equal to our own. So now we live with barbarians in our midst and leftists like the Pope lack the moral courage to consider them as such.
I firmly believe that the goals of Islamists and leftists are the same (destruction of Western Culture). IMO, the Pope has now declared himself and enemy of western civilization.
