Is Rush Promoting Trump to Build up his Sagging Audience?
September 4, 2015 | Vanity

Posted on 09/05/2015 4:15:09 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

I've been trying to figure out why Rush is doing daily Trump clean up exercises (latest was his Friday deconstruction and then reframing of Trump's less than stellar performance on Hugh Hewitt's show), along with his breathless cheerleading; it's not the Rush Limbaugh Show anymore, it has become the The Donald Show.

Then this morning I read that Megachurch Pastor Paula White has married her 3rd husband (she's his 4th) = 6 marriages. I'd looked her up because she's a good friend of Donald Trump (promotes his books and he promotes her) who is going to arrange a sit down with Trump and other evangelical leaders.

So, it dawns on me this is a mutual promotion society we're watching.

Limbaugh's EIB audience (reportedly) has been shrinking recently, so what better way to build it back up with some new blood than by jumping on the Trump wave?

Trump tweets that Rush is talking about him and Rush reports that Trump is tweeting about him and they're off to the piggy bank races.

I think the audience for conservative talk radio is falling because it’s hard to listen to, day after day, after day. There is so much overload that most days I just switch the channel and listen to music.

In Rush’s case, if ratings are dropping its because he isn’t on Sat radio. Most young people I know (25-30) have some form of satellite or streaming radio in their cars.

And let’s face it, people used to listen to rush at work—if you aren’t working it’s not convenient to listen if you don’t have an AM radio in the house.

I hear a lot of people praising Trump’s juvenile behavior. They thing its good to be worse than the Democrats, and manly too.

Still not searching for things to attack Trump with I see.

Another day of asking questions you obviously don’t want answers to.

Well, that’s what you and Trump do. I don’t give Liberals money ever. You may do it for these noble reasons of buying influence.

Most talk show hosts follow their audience, not lead it. That is true on candidates and personalities; it is true on issues.

Conservative talk show hosts all had the Wall Street Journal position on immigration and ridiculed the Minutemen and similar groups. But as the Malthusian populist (not conservative) anti-illegal movement grew, the talk show hosts flip flopped from the historically conservative, small government position on immigration to the big government Malthusian position.

They have done it on other issues also. They want ratings. It’s that simple.

Trump has admitted he gave $$$ to politicians on both sides of the aisle as a matter of doing business. Your point?

You clowns slamming Walker forget that Walker has advanced more Conservative principles than any other single candidate.

You and a few other FReepers seem to be making the mistake of misinterpreting that our not supporting Walker for President is the same as "slamming" him. It isn't. He just isn't my leading candidate. And now, one insistent and persistent FReeper in particular has prompted me to post this week that I will NEVER vote for Walker for President of the USA mainly because of their non-stop and massive number of not-always-truthful FR posts in behalf of Walker.

But a few Walkerites here are twisting the FReeper non-support of Walker into an anti-Trump vendetta by postings without understanding why so many pro-Cruz supporters are not anti-Trump FReepers in the first place.

Also have noticed that of these most obvious FR Walkerites, not many have anything good to post about Ted Cruz.

“I think Rush is starting to believe that Trump might actually pull this off.”

That may be the case now, but when Rush started this, he was simply pulling the GOPe chain to try to make them believe Trump might have a chance. He was quite tongue in cheek about this the first few weeks. He may still be.

I heard a rumor on the internet that Rush is a pragmatist.

Just sayin~

Maybe he's just fed up.

Journalists like to describe the public's feeling about politics or politicians or Washington DC as "anger" -- which carries a lot of assumptions with it.

Maybe it's more weariness or fatigue or disgust.

Let me help you with your confusion. Trump is kicking the GOP establishment, of which Limbaugh has never been a fan, repeatedly in the groin. I hope that clears it up for you.

Rush and Trump could be brothers.

They are interchangeable. Remember when Rush said that he hoped Obama would fail how clobbered he got? Rush has been outspoken exactly like Trump for decades and no one else was like him. Rush has paid a big price on the way up. The odds were very stacked against him.

I just think Rush is relieved that re-enforcements have arrived in the form of Trump and he is doing everything to help Trump get the word out which is exactly what Rush has wanted to say for decades.

I know that Rush knows what Trump is going through with all the pummeling and how difficult it is.

Rush is just lending a helping hand.

Trump’s outspokenness is making his candidacy. Rush’ outspokenness made his radio show. They are both cut of the identical same cloth.

I've thought a lot about this. There are so many things when it gets to brass tacks where Trump nowhere represents what Rush has preached and taught.

And I agree to a degree, Rush is riding the wave.

At some point Rush and those prone to the tea party side of politics are going to have ask themselves if Trump is the answer or something of cocktail that makes them feel good for the moment. and do they want the hangover after the party is over.

My earlier post was directed at the ones “slamming” Walker, not those that simply preferred other candidates.

When I decide on a candidate to vote for in the primary I won’t be influenced by others voting for that same candidate. In fact I believe it’s silly to base a vote on that. I have opposed Trump from the beginning because he’s unbelievable as a Conservative. His political philosophy is poorly formed and he comes across as a political lightweight.

Trump is the political equivalent of a blowhard New York City crossdresser. He’s trying to wear the clothing typical of a Conservative when he’s actually a liberal democrat. RINO isn’t adequate to describe Trump.

Cruz is my first choice at this time with Walker tied for second with three others: Carson, Jindal and Rubio. Trump will only get my vote if he obtains the nomination.

Same for me. And only if my candidate is on the ticket with him.

I did not see the Walker-slamming you mentioned seeing on this thread. I saw some FReepers slamming certain other posters' relentless Walker advocacy and their additional newly-initiated FR opposition rants against Trump who is, at the least, running interference for Ted Cruz and other conservatives including Walker.

Lots of confusion (with some lies) is being sown (deliberately) on FR. But what else is new.

Conservatives don’t help liberals get elected by donating to them. It’s an indicator of how conservative Trump is that is okay with funding them with his vast personal wealth.

At Limbaugh's age and net worth, do you really think that he would corrupt his principles for a few ratings points?

I don't.

It is more important to kill political correctness and the ruling dual party than to get your Walker into the WH to be held hostage by the same.

The most important issue is killing Obamacare. If that isn’t killed illegal immigration won’t matter.
