Tennessee: Woman fired for saying Muslim who killed 5 was ‘a piece of **** scum’

via Woman banned from Northgate Mall: “I will Sh** on your Quran.” – WDEF News 12.

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) – A Chattanooga woman with strong views about Islam finds herself out of a job and banned from Northgate Mall.

Heidi Grubbs was gainfully employed at the Belk department store inside Northgate Mall until a customer overheard her conversation about domestic terrorist Mohammad Abdulazeez, the shooter who killed five servicemen in Chattanooga last month.

I made a comment specifically towards the terrorist Mohammad and his family by stating that he was a piece of sh** scum and his family was too for killing our men. And then I was fired because I refused to apologize for it,” Grubbs said.

But losing her job wasn’t the only thing she was faced with.

“Two officers in the loss prevention office told me I was to be banned from all properties of CBL because of a sign that I have on my car.”

The sign is an anti-Islamic message that she proudly stuck on her window.

“The original sign on my car states that I will sh** on your Koran; I’ll spit in the face of your Mohammad; and that Islam is a lie.”

In a previous interview with Examiner.com Writer Joe Newby, Grubbs said she has been very outspoken about Islam since moving to Chattanooga from Memphis. “What happened to our soldiers” is more offensive than anything she might have written on paper, she added.

A CBL executive told News 12 that Grubbs was banned because she violated the mall code of conduct.

“It’s more to do with the vulgar language that was used. It’s not anything to do with her personal beliefs,” said CBL Marketing Director Catherine Wells.

Grubbs was forced to sign a legal documents that solidified her being banned from all CBL properties for one year. And now she is threatening to take civil action because she feels her freedom or speech and expression has been violated.

“As a whole, we should unite to protect our freedoms in America, our constitution and rights of speech. And that’s what I’m doing,” Grubbs said.

News 12 contacted the ACLU office in Nashville to see if rules that govern private property supersede freedom of speech and expression, but no one was available for comment.

h/t Jihad Watch who comments on mall-ban part of the story:

What? Is Mohammad Abdulazeez, the jihad murderer of local servicemen, a hero in Chattanooga now? Beyond all criticism? Or are mall officials so terrified of offending Muslims who might decide in their rage to emulate Abdulazeez that they will fire Heidi Grubbs and ban her from the Northgate Mall rather than offend Muslim sensibilities?

As for the sign on her car, certainly it is in poor taste, but would it have gotten Heidi Grubbs banned from the Mall if it had said the same thing about Christianity and the Bible? I doubt it.

A noble thought, but an ill-chosen venue.

The pendulum is swinging back at a blinding speed.

She can sue them for everything, and probably win.

“I will sh** on your Koran; I’ll spit in the face of your Mohammad; and that Islam is a lie.”

Sounds like a decent tagline to me!

I suspect the people of Tennessee will make Belk’s see the light for sucking up to murderers.

Never, under any circumstances, sign something you are being “forced” to sign. Simply refuse politely.

Christian = patriot = infidel = teabagger = dead.

That’s how the Left, and their temporary boyfriends of Islam want us.

An employer can fire an employee with no contract for no reason given and for no cause.
However, she should have refused to sign anything
that the employer handed her to sign.
Free speech is not an issue unless a government entity suppresses it. A regular employer is not controlled by first amendment speech freedoms.

Unless your severance package depends on it.... That makes it a tough one.

Paging Donald Trump.

See, you've hit on something right there. When folks think about rallying behind a leader to push back against this PC nonsense, their first thought is Trump.

I like Trump, a lot. But I think Cruz would be a better president. It is a real shame that Cruz does not have the fire in the belly that Trump has.

I can see them firing her and getting away with it. But I don’t think speaking “vulgar” language can be used to keep her from shopping at the damned mall.

I hear you. And you should probably consult with a good lawyer first.

Something rather similar once happened to a friend of mine. She was told that if she signed, it would be recorded as a resignation. But if she didn't sign, it would be recorded as a termination for cause.

A termination for cause can look really bad on an employment record. She signed.
