So I got caught up in the My Little Pony craze (I'll just watch one episode, see what all these people are talking about..), joined the Boston Bronies meetup group and last weekend drove to Baltimare, MD(sorry, bad horse puns are required!) for BronyCon 2015, the largest MLP convention in the world. Allow me to share with you my observations.

I wonder how much of the Brony thing is a rebellion against the increased level of women in fandom. SF conventions used to have pretty much the same gender mix as your picks, now it’s much closer to 50-50. Fen is no longer a boys club. Brony still is. Also could be a rebellion against nerd-chic, we’re a long way from Brony being a driving force in pop culture.

I’m not surprised by a whole lot, least of all people making fun of Bronies. Hell I do it myself with the fringe types.

On the other hand, I think there’s plenty of room to also question the masculinity of a bunch of guys that play dressup in football jerseys and baseball caps, gather in large drunken groups to oogle other men in tight fitting pants playing with someone elses balls. And they do it 80,000 at a time.

I mean do these guys really think that by putting on the shirt of the man they admire (to such a mentally unhealthy degree as to copy his stylistic habits,) think that maybe the coach will get them confused and he will look up in the stands and say ‘Get that guy down here to QB the last play of the game?

Personally I think thats a lot gayer/in fantasyland than even the fringe of Bronydom. But if dudes wanna get with a bunch of other dudes to watch one guy bend over and another to stand behind him, backhand his nads, grunt loudly and receive some balls, who am I to judge? ;)

Folks, You want to know what appeals to people about this cartoon? Innocence. The innocence that a lot of shows used to have and that can no longer be found on TV. It’s really that simple. The innocence LIFE used to have.<\em>

This is why what little TV I watch is ME TV, an over-the-air network that airs nothing but vintage and classic TV.

So...you’ve dabbled in BronyHood...not that there’s anything wrong with it (as Jerry Seinfeld would say).

While it wouldn’t be my cup of tea it does look like it was good clean fun. I hope you enjoyed it.

I had a pony growing up. It was a real live pony. Tossed me on my ass a few times too.

This is a little too weird for me. Sorry, dude.

Go find a real stable, take a lesson or two. Become one with the horse. Getting a 1200lb. Animal to respond to the lightest touch, squeeze of the legs, flick of the reins and knowing how he will respond (usually); It’s an amazing experience.

In my younger days I practiced Martial Arts. As far as spectator sports I like Hockey.

Now I mostly participate in sports shooting.

You really seem to overthink about guys in tight pants but that’s none of my business.

I'd only give him 200lbs, all suited up.
