I'm just going to tell you a little story - I've gotten into the habit lately - some of the fellows with the cameras back there know this - I have started collecting jokes which I can absolutely prove are jokes made up in Russia and are told among the Russian people, usually about their system. And one of them - I'll just tell you one little one here because you've all been so kind about me. This particular joke they tell among themselves is that an American and a Russian are arguing about their two governments. And the American said,
“Look, in my country, I can walk into the oval office, I can pound the presidents desk, and I can say, “Mr. President, I don't like the way you are running our country.’”And the Russian said,“I can do that too.”And the American said,“You can?”He said“Yes, I can walk into the Kremlin, into the General Secretary's office, pound on the General Secretary’s desk, and say, ‘Mr. General Secretary, I don't like the way President Reagan is running his country.’”
You are the one comparing Hillary to Trump, and I make no excuses for either of them.
One is corrupt and very lacking in character. Trump is nowhere close to being like Hillary, but Trump’s character is questionable, especially when he can’t handle the questions tossed at him about his past indiscretions, and just ends up pointing the finger at the questioner or messenger, instead of just answering the questions and hoping to do better in handling himself and the press in future encounters. Megyn is a talk-show host and moderator in debates. She’s not the problem, but, if you listen to Trump, she was the problem and he wanted her to apologize. That’s not the way things work, and if he’s got any kind of character, he should’ve just taken the blows and countered with good answers. His answers were to accuse the presenter of the questions as being biased or suffering from some mental or physical disorder. That’s not character at all.
Your horse and rabbit meat analogy doesn’t work with Trump. I still appreciate what he’s doing, but he should be a bit more grown up in how he handles himself.
That is where we disagree: you think the program in question was a debate, and you think the “moderator” was - a moderator.In reality the “debate” - all such “debates” - are joint news conferences.
If FNC actually wanted light rather than heat, it would not have had any such thing as a “moderator.” Only a ten-way chess timer. Each candidate gets equal time, and whoever presses their button burns their own time until they press the “stop” button. At that point, all ten timers run at one-tenth speed until someone presses their “start” button.
I do see a problem with that system; a 9-against-one gang up could occur, and would be very unfair. But, in general, the principle is that no one who is not going to be nominated for president should be “positioned” above the ultimate Republican nominee. And that goes double in the general election “debate.” In a two-person contest my system works absolutely. The D and the R are on equal footing, and no “moderator” is positioned above them during the program.
You could spend the whole program throwing out things like "a woman on her knees” - which turns out to not have been said to the embarrassment of the woman in question - and what would the program accomplish???
The audience wanted something else - and the only people FNC played to were - the DNC and the MSM. They loved it - did you hear Debbie Washerwoman Schultz rave about it? But FNC’s core audience is hungering and thirsting for substantive policy discussion.
But hey - you heard validation of your disapproval of Trump, and I guess that’s what counts.
The point remains that, it is Trump that felt attacked and then went on air with many different news outlets to complain about how he was treated. That’s a crybaby. Megyn just asked the questions that were bound to be asked sooner or later by many other news organizations, and even the regular folks. Trump was irritated by the line of questioning, especially related to the Rosie O’Donnell tit-for-tat of a few years ago. He needed to be ready for those questions, and he was not. So, he decided to find a villain from the debate, and Megyn was his target. That’s not the way to debate or to win an argument. You don’t kill the messenger ir the messenger did nothing wrong. I don’t like Rosie O’Donnell and I don’t blame Trump for going after her, but, whatever the situation was then, he should have been ready to take some flak, sooner or later.

I wish one of the candidates would have spoken up and said something like, “There is no war on women. There never was a war on women. And anyone who says there is, is a liar or an idiot.”
