The obvious problem when trying to rank the 10 people most likely to wind up as the Republican presidential nominee next year can be summed up in two words: Donald Trump.
On one hand, Trump is ahead in most national polls on the nominating contest an NBC-Wall Street Journal poll out Sunday puts him at 19 percent, four points clear of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and he even leads (or comes close to leading) in surveys conducted in early-voting states such as Iowa and New Hampshire.
On the other hand, he is Donald Trump.
I put the question of where to rank Trump to the five senior GOP strategists who arent working for one of the 17 Republicans running for the nomination. (I kid; there are at least 10 unaligned GOP operatives.) What I got from that group surprised me: They were much more bullish on Trumps chances than I expected with several arguing that Trump absolutely belonged in the top tier.

I’m thinking on doing the same. There is no way that I will ever vote for a Democrat, and the GOP bunch is very disheartening. No voting is like voting Democrat. I’ve been thinking on writing someone in, probably Jefferson Davis to express my disgust with what was done to the Confederate flag.
The democrats are stuck with their “it’s my turn” candidate, and are hoping GOP gets the same.
“I will not vote for Jeb Bush - no matter what.”
Ditto and that’s a promise.
Same here and I don’t give a good damn whether that puts another socialist in office. But I will go further, I will convince as many as I can to do the same.
I may be compelled to vote by means of a write-in this time.
Kasich seemed a little thin skinned during a recent interview i just heard today. It sounds like he’s not used to having his motives questioned.
Oh goody the dims rag is telling us who they want. Let’s fool them
I’m only guessing here but since Kasich spent many years in Washington before becoming governor of Ohio he’s got close relationships with the high end of the GOPe, more so than Walker. Kasich is the governor of a state the Republican nominee has to win to get to the White House. I think he’s a major player in the nomination race, but it’s only my observation. Still think the final three will come down to Cruz, Trump, and Bush.
Who were they polling the media?
Kaish, my governor, is a RINO in many aspects. However, he has done some good things for Ohio. He upped the homestead exemption for senior citizens from $5,000 to $25,000. This cut my property taxes in half. He did expand Medicaid, but explains it as his Christian duty to help the poor. Like it or not - that was his reasoning. He isn’t a bad guy, but, like Trump - he gets off message very easily. And, he can blather over anyone in a room. He would still be better than Bush, who I will NEVER vote for.
I remember Kasich was the point man in congress for the budget during Newt’s tenure as speaker. Very knowledgeable about monetary issues though I think his expansion of Medicaid will be a big issue against him.
It might be, but you really have to listen to him on this issue. He has, like I said, done some good things for Ohio, so, we’ll see how this goes.
Honestly now, how is using government money -- i.e., other people's money -- to "help the poor" fulfilling a Christian duty?
To me, Jeb Bush does not appear to be very healthy. Physically or mentally.
