In other words, the leaders of UVA believed in their hearts that the story was true even before an investigation was conducted.And this, of course, means that no investigative reporting should have been conducted.

Then why didn’t RS fully investigate and vet the story first before printing it. They were looking for sensationalism and ran with it before checking it out.
