I can't imagine any reason why the Jefferson Memorial shouldn't be taken down, if that is the will of the people. No doubt there were costs paid to erect it and continuing costs to maintain it. The poor man is long ago gone to this world but his spirit lives on in vastly more important ways than this memorial.

I think we get too upset by a bunch of this crap. Tear the dang thing down. It will probably cost multiple millions to do so. But it's ok, we have money to burn. As Americans, that's just what we do. The politicians have all the money. We have a self reporting, voluntary tax system. We support these guys with real money.

I have rarely seen a more repulsive posting on Free Republic. With your words you have denigrated our Founders and the spirit of Liberty.

Do you not have the intellectual wherewithal to see that what is happening is an evil assault on the left on the Spirit of our Founding? The evil left wants a dictatorship that crushes America as founded. Are you that blind?

The will of the people? The left doesn't care about the will of the people.

Please educate yourself and read the founding documents and read what is means to have the rule of law.

Tyranny is staring us in the face and yet your big statement is that you would have no problem with the evil left taking down one monument after another -- because it offends someone.
