Well, everybody, I have entertaining news. My Yellow Lab Kate was bred to a very nice Yellow Lab male about 4 weeks ago. Pregnancy confirmed by ultrasound - vet says "at least 7" puppies. Expected whelping date is July 6. Patriotic Puppies on the way . . . This should be a very nice all Yellow litter. Father is 2xGRHRCH, MH and QAA, around 65 pounds and dark yellow. Mother lacks one pass for her HRCH, passed her first Master test easily and has her CGC. 55 pounds and very pale yellow, almost cream colored. Both parents have very calm temperaments and can "turn it off" when they are not in the field. Hips and elbows on both sides good/normal, both parents CNM clear, mom is EIC Carrier dad is Clear, so only Clear and Carrier pups.
My neighbor’s friend has one, they are cool dogs. And thanks, but no thanks!
That is AWESOME NEWS...MAZEL TOV!!! Can’t wait to see pics of those adorable little pups
LOL That reminds me of the Dog With A Blog episode where Stan married Princess and they had puppies!
Pics!
But the give you so much love, and they’re wonderful to sleep with, if there’s enough bed left. And they certainly impresss the neighbors.
The groom is in Arkansas, so the breeding was by AI. Somebody just slipped her a roofie and she woke up pregnant. >-<
The daddy, "Slick", GRHRCH Curtis Slippery When Wet MH QAA
The mama, "Kate", HRCH & SH.
Congrats on your litter! It’s a LOT of work, but well worth it. If you haven’t already look into Bio Sensor or Super Dog “training” for the puppies. It was a program originally developed by the Army that puts minor stressors on the puppies and helps them develop better.
May I ask who your mid-wife is? I have had GSPs for about 17 years, and did some showing, some agility, some hunt tests, etc. so I was wondering if I knew her.
They will be introduced to water and birds, gunfire, noise etc. I was thinking of setting up a doggy obstacle course as well.
Bio Sensor is done on days 3 - 16 (if I am remembering correctly), so it’s very different from a normal training class.
These are going to be stellar little pups - the ideal mix of a calm house dog and a dynamite working retriever. Both parents are able to "throw the switch" and chill, it's a valuable trait.
Kate taking the big water entry.
Slick being a good boy on the line.
Congratulations. I hope mother and all the babies are healthy!
Thank you! We’re getting all the stuff together and waiting with bated breath for the little ones to make their appearance. Got my midwife, and my repro vet on speed dial.
Such excitement! Makes having a human baby seem almost routine ... which it is for me.
Well, we don’t generally have septuplets . . . makes it a good deal more exciting.
Exactly what I was thinking.
Doc delivers first baby, Boudreaux walks over and puts him in the bureau drawer, Doc says, "Hey Boudreaux, bring that light back over here." He delivers another baby, Boudreaux carries that one over to the bureau, about that time Doc says, "Hey, bring that light back over here . . . "
Boudreaux says, "Uh-UH, Doc. That light's attractin' 'em!"
LOL!
Congratulations. Should we all be knitting booties?
If you like! but that’s a lot of booties and very very tiny too! :-)
