Remind Me Again How Getting Rid of Gaddafi Was Some Kind of Improvement!
Reaganite Republican ^ | 21 May 2015 | Reaganite Republican

Or maybe Obama, Hillary, McCain,
or Lindsey Graham could do some splainin'...?

I'm no huge Bush fan in general, but am pretty damn sick of hearing the historical re-inventions lately re. how going into Iraq was always a failure, etc... like The Surge never happened- how Obama was 'handed a mess',
blah blah blah...

Mark Levin recently noted this new 'progressive' push against reality, one likely intended to shield Obama/Dems from the outright disaster they've created in Iraq and 'The Levant'. The truth is, Barack Obama was handed a stable Iraq... then promptly dropped the reigns and walked away.

And WHAT about Libya?

Never mind how Obama and Clinton left Americans there to die when saving them didn't fit their fundraising/drinking/sleeping schedules... today we hear ISIS has taken all of Muammar Gaddafi's (coastal, strategic) hometown of Sirte.

Already in control of the local airport -and the aircraft found left on the tarmac- from which they've threatened to strike the Vatican with terrorist-piloted planes filled with explosives (just a little over two hours' flight), 'conquer rome', and 'smash your crosses'.

Just 75 years ago, Libya was a calm, clean Crown colony of Imperial Italy, governed by national hero/Air Marshall/Viceroy of Libya (who once historically flew to Chicago with a squadron of seaplanes) Italo Balbo.

Regardless of Gaddafi's claims, he really didn't accomplish all that much in
40 years but enriching him and his clique. The advanced train system Italy ran had long ago been shut-down, most of the freeways were built by Balbo, as was much of modern Tripoli.

He was an nutty, egotistical, evil bastard- but Gaddafi had a lid on the place
-had given up all his nukes- and was doing oil deals with the West,
opposed to Islamic extremism, etc.

WHAT have we gained? Nothing -same nightmare ISIS scenario as in Iraq/Syria, but far closer and more threatening to Europe's southern flank.

Someone once said 'If somebody says they want to kill you, it's a good idea to believe them'... indeed. And if a picture says a thousand words, their chopping off Chrisitans' heads on Libyan beaches says all I need to hear.

Not only do we need to now wipe all ISIS formations from the face of the Earth -as advocated by Senator Ted Cruz (patriot, TX)- but we DEFINITELY need to put those who aspire to higher office (but had a major hand in the Libyan debacle) against the wall and demand some answers.

We lost American lives unnecessarily, then completely and utterly lost the war from any sane strategic perspective. I challenge anyone to explain how the situation there could be any worse than the result these fools have already brought us.

What the hell where Hillary Clinton, Lindsey Graham, et. al. thinking?
Who did they expect to replace the Gaddafi regime?
Preppy democrats in blue sport coats?

Getting Rid of Gaddafi Was An Improvement Because...

It allowed the current enemies of America in the White House to illegally traffic arms to muslim terrorists who, if they could, would murder us.

From a leftist perspective it was a win win.

There was no “mess that Obozo was handed” that he hasn’t made worse.

What was gained was exactly what Obama wanted to happen.
An unstable area his Muslim Brotherhood/Al-Qeada pals could operate out of.

Just so.

And, IIRC, by the time Gaddafi was taken out, he was no longer a threat to anyone.

As bad as getting rid of Hussein and Gaddafi was as it left the door open for even worse (Hello ISIS) regimes, can that be any worse the than the muslim brotherhood infiltration in our own White House that gave us Benghazi?

We need a president (Cruz) who understands that the enemy of my enemy IS STILL MY ENEMY!

He was ‘removed’ per Hillary's recommendation [”cackle, cackle, cackle”] at the behest of Sid Vicious's clients. This was a commercial assassination, for profit, by means of the US government.

Obama was ‘handed a mess’,

Reagan was handed a mess too. But he didn’t whine, cry, blame others or sit on his thumb. He fixed it.

Agree. Gaddafi was completely neutered. But oh, what a sight it was to see him taken down! The Leftists were so excited.........Hillary! ‘we came, we saw, he died’! They were all sooo proud.

We support despots (either up front or covertly) until it no longer suits our needs, then dump them, leaving an angry population that blames us for supporting them in the first place. Its been our foreign policy since WWII at least.

The dictator IS the preferable form of government in certain cultures. Especially preferable to the Islamic extreme culture. Was Libya extreme enough, that is a judgement call.

If the dictator is not organizing terror strikes against us, and Khadafi stopped that long ago, then removing him introduces a risk that extreme Islamics will take over.

Yes, he should have been left alone. Possibly Egypt and Syria also.

When I was in Iraq I spoke to a member of the Human Resources Team who had a PhD in Middle Eastern Studies. I asked her what she thought would happen when we left Iraq. She said that Iraq would be fine because of their “national identity and pride.” I asked about Iranian influence and terror groups causing issues and she again stated that a united Iraq would never allow that to happen.
I told her that I thought Iraq would splinter into sectarian violence and Iran would be a big influence. Also that the government of Iraq was too weak to do anything about it and they depend too much on US assistance.

But then again, I only have an Associate degree so I guess she knew more than I did.

Stop assuming these are unintended consequences, they are not. Everything was done to serve a purpose and to achieve a desired resolution. Everything has been ran through countless scenarios with the the long game in mind. There are NO MISTAKES here, this is the desired outcome.

Destroy the US and create a One World Utopia under a totalitarian dictatorship of the Ruling Class.

Egypt definitely should have been left alone- good thing that situation corrected itself in spite of Obama/Hillary and their predilection towards the Islamic Brotherhood.

I too am also thinking we should have left Assad alone -not help him- but not push him out, either... he’s slipping now, and of course only ISIS will gain

The U.S. has been making these ‘mistakes’ for over 50 years. The Eisenhower/Nixon Administration let a bunch of rag-tag (”JV” players???) ‘barbudos’ topple a USA friendly corrupt (can’t even call him a serious).... ‘dictator’... BATISTA fall...with the consequence of having nuclear missiles brought to within 90 miles of the U.S.

“I too am also thinking we should have left Assad alone -not help him- but not push him out, either... he’s slipping now, and of course only ISIS will gain.”

They need Syria so they can have a clear shot at Turkey. Jordan will eventually fall because of the refugee issue and death from 1000 cuts.
