Like I said earlier, I lived in MI for 10 years 1977-1987. It was a good ten years; still have a lot of dear friends there that I hear from on a weekly basis. But, it sure is nice living in a State now that doesn’t get 40 cents out of every one of my hard earned dollars for taxes by one way or the other. I like getting to keep more of my money. The Labor Unions and the Detroit/Flint Welfare Queens will keep Michigan in the “Undesirable Place to Live” column for many years to come.

You’re kidding, right? Pack up and move to another state for political reasons only?????
____________________________________________________________________________________________________-

Depends on how you look at it. Many have fled Blue states because they are tired of working their ass off and having 50% of their hard earned wages go for taxes to support Welfare Queens, crack heads, crack HOs, Planned Parent-hood supported baby killers and Radical Left-Wing Politicians. I’m one of those people who fled. We left Michigan in 1987 for Texas. Sure is nice getting to keep my money in my pocket, carry a revolver in my car and know that I live in a State that did not help put that Marxist Muslim MF’er in the White House.

Then what the hell are you talking about? You praise Michigan in your first post, then turn around and call us a socialist pig sty.

Screw you and good luck with your plan to retreat all the way to victory.

Don’t make statements like that and let people know how ignorant you are. The designated colors are what they are; deal with it or stay in your Obama-loving, baby-killing, queer marrying State.

OK, this is the last time I’m asking. You are either dodging my question to avoid having to admit your initial comment was erroneous or you just don’t know the answer. One more time:

IF WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT NEW MEXICO IS TRUE....HOW DID A CONSERVATIVE WOMAN GET ELECTED GOVERNOR TWO TIMES?

SCREW those “designated” newspeak media colors flipped on Election Night 2000. Red is Communist/Socialist/Totalitarian: the Democrat party color. Blue is the color of Conservatism.

I will continue to speak out against that deceitful fraud foisted upon us. Better DEAD than RED.

P.S. Dave Leip gets the colors RIGHT.

I had a good run during my 10 years in MI because of the friends I made, but, I hated the politics and politicians. As far as my “retreat to victory”.... you who are still there aren’t doing to well; you elected that freakin’, four-eyed, little faggot idiot Gary Peters to the Senate last November. So, screw you and good luck in your perpetual exercise in futility to ever see Michigan anything but a Welfare State.

Tennessee, 2012 Presidential race. Red are the Communist Democrat counties.

“Yeah Kart, I agree. No one believes me when I say that Steve has been turned to the dark side... or at least has become an establishment hack.

It was a great disappointment when he did.. I used to REALLY like him as a person and as a Representative.”

I agree that SOMETHING happened. And I too, also REALLY like him as a person.

I’ll put on my not so tinfoil for a minute and suggest that some sort of deals were made, and the polls were so incredibly rigged that nobody would even believe how far gone the system is. The guys facilitating it are both good at it and very bold. I’ll also suggest that an organization that has within its ranks members of both parties is where the deals were/are being made. it’s now about taking turns in office and turning a blind eye to the corruption.

“That all stems from a map that was published on the internet after Bush (finally!) defeated Gore in 2000.”

I remember some of the discussion during that time. The map was presented with red for D and blue for R. The blue overwhelmed the red and it was decided in the end that the contrast looked better using the red R and blue D color scheme.

These discussions threads are somewhere in the FR archives.

Red is for blood, as in “Blood, Swat, and Tears”.
It’s a stupid thing to abandon a symbol just because of its very-recent usage — the rainbow, for example, is not about proclaiming homosexuality, but the promise of God with all flesh to never again flood the world. (i.e. What they intend is, in the face of God’s power and honorableness, laughable.)

>> You and I are old school. People under 40 do not associate the color “red” with “Communism” <<

I'm under 40. I was a kid in the 1980s. "Red" was ALWAYS associated with Communism prior to 2000. Other tyrannical regimes like NAZI regime were remembered for their red logos in the history books.

I'm under 40; but I also have a bit of interest in some of the East Asian cultures (where red is considered fortuitous, and has been for centuries).
In fact, the western bad connotation of red is very, very recent (essentially the Cold War) -- the British, for example, had red forces representing allies up until WWII [IIRC] when they needed to use blue to work with the other allied forces.

They take turns here in New Mexico. Its all very clannish and rigged and party and views have very little to do with it.

But I doubt that even that answer will satisfy you, but please note I was not afraid of my answer so much so that I pinged the New Mexico Freeper’s Ping list and no one from the list as posted against my analyst and a few have even posted their agreement with it. I would have thought that in itself would have been enough, perhaps you shouldn't ask people question who might have answers that you don't like.

If you bothered to check you would find that both New Mexico are far Left two of the three Representatives are far left and the third who use to be a good conservative has become a toe the line GOPe.

New Mexico isn’t going conservative anytime soon, Susana Martinez is an anomaly cause by a combination of the state’s clannish political powers and her being a Latina and not by any great conservative power shift. I point out that no fellow New Mexico Freepers have denied and a couple have agreed. Again I am sorry to brust your bubble, but that just the way it is.

“Who cares?”

“Red is a powerful color.”

“Ferraris are red.”

“Coke cans are red.”

“I like red.”

Just some of the flippant responses of the ignorant on this matter.

Controlling the lexicon and symbolism is very important. Associating parties with a color was never important in America before 2000 but now that is we shouldn’t just roll over and let the media get away with controlling it. Red the world over is color of communism and socialism, commies were and still are called “reds” here in the US and in every other English-speaking country, to associate that with a right of center party (jokes about RINOS aside) is absurd.

The dems don’t want the association for obvious reasons (commies, Darth Vader’s lightsaber) and people most often name blue as their favorite color so they love that association.

OK, that answers my question. I had no preconceived ideas as to an answer that I “wanted”. I just wanted to know. Now, you’ve answered my question. Thanks.

I think Martinez would be an excellent VP choice and would certainly significantly elevate our chances of taking the state, no matter what some local freeper who claims to know everything says.

Obama won the state comfortably but Republicans just won the state House of Representatives for the first time since 1952.

If you want a woman she’s the obvious top choice, despite Carly Fiorina angling for the job.

I don’t know whether she’d be the best choice for Cruz, doubling down on Hispanic nominees, but I won’t dismiss it since Cruz is Protestant and she’s Catholic (one of each on the ticket would be the ideal religious combination). She’d be at the top of my list for Walker.
