Thank you for speaking truth to this. I see this same thing happening not only with native USA IT workers, but also immigrated IT workers who eventually became citizens. You are exactly right - once you become an American citizen - you have less rights and value to companies than imported/offshored workers.

The ultimate goal of this program is to gut IT labor costs for large companies by completely shifting the workforce offshore. Much like was done with manufacturing jobs in the 80’s....

Amazing to sit here and watch Cruz supporters fall for it.

Thanks but I am retired in Texas, I work at NASA HQ in the DC area back in the 90's and I did not like it then. I imagine I'd like it even less today. If you advertise a number in the 80's you should get a few applicants. I'd have to take a hard look at SharePoint to see what it does, but I think the requirement of 3 years experience with SharePoint is putting folks off. If I was looking and saw that I keep on looking. If SharePoint is just another web development tool, I'd change that to

"5 years experience in building and maintaining web sites, SharePoint experience is a big plus" Always ask for 5 years experience, otherwise you'd get a newbbie of unknown quality.

H1B program will do nothing for us. Just pointing out that we can’t find people to fill these positions. If we are having these problems, I would imagine the commercial side is as well.

I believe wolfman23601 must be one of those guys in management who’s bonus amount depends upon gutting his labor costs by replacing his onshores with offshores who will work at 40% of American salaries. He’s all about these H1B’s - even on other threads:

Bullshirt. C19’s post is utter rubbish. Cruz is still the most hawkish candidate against illegal aliens.

Unfortunately, that baseline experience is driven contractually by our customer, not us. We have $90k budgeted for the Norfolk position with profit. Break-even is around $100k. We are nearing the point that we’d even be willing to take a small loss on the position for the right candidate to satisfy the customer. We routinely pay $115k - $120k for SharePoint Developers in the DC area and our Chief Technologist wants us to go even higher than that. No, it won’t make you a millionaire, but it beats living at home and waiting tables, which is what the 20-somethings today appear to be choosing to do.

Nope. I won't vote for Walker at the top of the ticket when I'm giving Cruz money this early in the race.

You dream if you think I'll change that.

At least I'm actually supporting my candidate with real time and money. I know who I want for a candidate.

And it ain't Walker.

He is proposing increasing the yearly total from anywhere between 65,000 to 300,000 based on need alone.

Please tell me how that hurts US born/citizen engineers.

Well you won’t have a choice after the primary. You will either vote or not vote for Walker. And of course if you don’t vote for Walker then you are supporting the Democratic candidate.

The supposed shortage is manufactured - that’s how.

IT has changed so much in the past 15 years - you can do more with fewer resources to begin with, so the demand is nowhere close to where it was during the .com boom years. This program is ultimately about shipping IT jobs overseas.

My bonus depends on winning contracts and operating them within budget. Winning contracts requires organic growth and winning recompetes is essential. To win recompetes, your customer has to like the job you are doing. High turnover and unsatisfied employees will not get the job done. You are way off-base.

Seeing you call someone else giddy is really funny, naps. I don’t doubt you’ll start that club...it sounds quite fanboyish.

Did you check out post #16 for the facts on Cruz and immigration? See, he’s been consistent all along...none of those campaign-trail conversions for him.

It’s a good thing, too, because I don’t trust that kind of thing.

Nope. I won't be supporting the Dem candidate. I heard that crap all last election, and it was the liberals in the GOP that own Obama.

Liberals like you.

Don't want a liberal candidate? Don't get one elected, because I will vote for a conservative. Not Walker, not a Dem, but a conservative.

Whether you like it or not.

I do have a choice.

And it won't be a lib of any kind.

I’ll vote for Walker if he wins the nomination. Cruz is my pick and Walker and Paul are the only other two I’d vote for in the general.

You're kidding, right? Ever hear of supply and demand? How would you like it if we doubled the number of people in your line of work? Even if you own a business, we could offer visas to people interested in opening a similar business. What do you think that would do to your income?

When Cruz was asked what to do with the illegals currently here he replied: “When it comes to immigration, I don’t think you have to solve every issue all at once”.

No, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t explain what you intend to do eventually, does it? Especially when you’re running for President?

Of course, we all know why he didn’t want to address that particular issue. No matter how he answers it, he’ll lose votes, either from Hispanics or from the part of the GOP base that won’t tolerate any form of amnesty whatsoever.

As I’ve said several times before, no candidate for the GOP nomination will come out against all forms of amnesty. Not one. Cruz didn’t duck the ethanol question in Iowa, but he’s sure trying to duck this one.

That’s not an indictment of his answer, by the way. It was a cagey way out of the dilemma. Just answer a different question: “Is the country ready to deal with the illegals already here?” instead of “What would you like to see done with them if you’re elected?”

Incidentally, I like Cruz. It’s the insistence on “no amnesty” that I think is overdone.

Exactly. People need to actually read and comprehend Cruz’s amendment. ALL of it.
