Yep. I don't really have 'prepping' stuff. A little I guess, but mostly what I have is what I have normally. The FEMA guy that gave us the AF class (throw away training) told us what to put in our tornado (go) bags. His info was tailored for stuff we might see here.

Of course, it doesn't matter if I have to leave the house because of tornados or terrorists. The bag contents are remarkably good for either way.

We have some fishing rods in the basement store room. Not much of a good place to fish though. Hubby would like to have a pond, but we really don’t have enough land to have what we would need according to the extension service.

We have talked about surveying our 22 acres and dividing it into smaller tracts. Keep 7 acres next to the creek, sell the other 15 and buy the three acres of lots that are adjacent to our backyard. Then we could put in a “natural swimming” pool/pond that we could raise some tilapia or something and increase our orchard and gardens.

I bought a pink thermos for that very reason. Hubby kept running off with mine and loosing them on the job. When I saw that pink one, I just knew he wouldn’t ever take it on the job. And it worked!

On my list is to acquire a pink tool kit with drill, hammer etc. for the same reason. My stuff keeps disappearing, because Hubby doesn’t want to take the time to find his. He comes and asks me to “borrow” mine, agrees to put it back when finished, and rarely remembers to do so.

Then he can’t remember where he left it. Bless his little heart. My grand daughter got a new (deer) rifle for Christmas, and it was pink. LOL She shot her first deer when she was about 15. Cooks it in a crock pot.

Teen daughter & I got pink compound bows for Christmas. Haven’t seen any pink thermoses or fishing rods, so we’ll stick to our tried & true ancient perch poles - not pretty but effective at bringing in lunch and dinner.

That said, the men & boys in our lives don’t equate the color pink with danger (Hello Kitty was big around here for awhile)

This could actually be a good thing for lady preppers. Took a family field trip to the gun store Saturday - the boys actually believed the pink handguns were less dangerous/effective.

Fine by me. LB Jr. insists on pink.

Might not be so great for camo, but her BOB’s pink contents, right down to the hot pink paracord, is every bit as effective as the stuff in hubby’s...and could be overlooked as too girlie for the average manly man.

Sounds like a hidden gem has been discovered. Male insecurity when it comes to pink could be a life-saver for female preppers.

Yep. Otherwise, I’ll guarantee there’s some stuff that Hubby would dig out and it would never be found again. LOL

The post was submitted by C. Nelson (who is a friend) together with copyrights. Then it was corrected (by me) and posted.

I’m sorry that you think it’s a “mess”. I find it interesting and useful! But you can’t please everybody...

The Army is already hardening its equipment against EMP’s.

Is? When did they stop in our lifetimes?

The first thing you should do before an EMP is do some independent research.

Some of the latest studies say that your car will stop. And then you can restart it.

some of the latest studies say that it would be local and not national.

The EMP is a sexy boogie man. It gets overplayed. It makes a great novel.

Hardening the grid against an EMP attack

A few weeks ago we had a speaker from the local power company at the Engineers Club. I raised the issue of EMP, both from a nuclear explosion and solar-induced Carrington event. He assured me that the power lines are being hardened against EMP. I hope he wasn't just blowing smoke.
