Jeb Bush: AG nominee Lynch deserves a vote
The Hill ^ | April 16, 2015 | Jonathan Easley 14453 28

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) on Thursday said Senate Republicans should allow a vote on Loretta Lynch, President Obama's nominee for attorney general.

“I hope that they get to a point – I think that presidents have a right to pick their team in general,” said Bush, a potential 2016 GOP contender, at a town hall event in Concord, N.H. “Someone who is supportive of the president’s policies, whether you agree with them or not, there should be some deference to the executive. This should not always be partisan.”

Bush swiped at the current attorney general, Eric Holder, saying he had “politicized” the office and created “distrust” by carrying out “the president’s political agenda.”

“There should be humbleness inside the Department of Justice,” Bush said to a big round of applause.

Lynch, he said, would bring a different demeanor to the office.

“The longer it takes to confirm her, the longer Eric Holder stays attorney general. Look at it that way,” Bush said.

Democrats are fuming that Lynch’s nomination has gone months without a full confirmation hearing.

Republican leaders have said they’ll move Lynch’s nomination along once the Senate passes a bill to prevent human trafficking. But that measure has been stalled by Democrats over anti-abortion language in the bill.

Lynch has universal support from Democrats in the Senate but would face a close confirmation vote. A whip list compiled by The Hill shows that she could count on the support of only five Republicans, enough to get her confirmed by one vote.

This mental midget doesn't see danger in this?

The Bushes never want to be seen as being partisan, political, ideological.

They only want to remain viable.

Hey Jeb, If the dems allow a vote on the bill they are holding up, they can have a vote on Lynch. It’s up to the dems...it is in their hands.

I think that presidents have a right to pick their team in general,” said Bush

With the advice and consent of the Senate. Too bad that dictators (and would-be dictators) cannot seem to understand that (constitutional) point.

Dear heavens, all Bushes, Clintons, Kennedys and any other members of political dynasties need to go away and never come back. They are all incredibly stupid, corrupt, and selfish.

The problem with all the Bushes is that they treat politics like a game or a sport, not a life and death struggle like in a war

Influence garnered from elected office is the Bush family business.

Besides being an unelectable candidate, Jeb is not too bright. Does he not realize that if there is a vote and she is confirmed that some blame will now accrue to him?

Harry Reid to Senate GOP: I will 'absolutely' force a vote on Loretta Lynch

"Sen. Harry Reid is not pleased with his Republican counterparts.

The Senate Minority leader says he will force a vote on Loretta Lynch's attorney general nomination if Senate Republicans continue to delay it. Lynch was nominated in November, but debate across the aisle in Capitol Hill has delayed her confirmation.

"We've put up with this far too long and we're going to need to have a vote on her very soon that's created by Mitch McConnell or I'll create one," the Nevada Democrat is will say in an interview with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow set to air Thursday night at 9 p.m. EST. "I can still do that. I know parliamentary procedure around here and we're going to put up with this for a little while longer but not much."

When questioned by Maddow whether he has the power to override Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Reid says he "absolutely" has the power........"

The same could be said for the majority of those posting to this forum.

“Wow - Jeb really IS clueless!”

Now he isn’t. He is simply doing what Republicans have always done......go along to get along.

That’s why the Republican party is begging for him to run.

The Holder brand has been discredited = Racist!

Why would we help the Dems change him out?

Obama certainly hasn’t selected Lynch to smooth over relations. She’s just as divisive as Holder and the Left and their lap dog media can use the “war on women” and “racist” ploy whenever anyone criticizes her.
