I bet that some have more than one which is making that % look so high.
Dems say this is more proof of racism,.

I would bet 80% are Failure to Appear. Aint nobody got time to show up in court. Or they show up late. Expecting them to show up at a certain time is, well, you know ... Given the fact that the Ferguson PD is a revenue generating agency rather than a law enforcement agency then I'd bet that more like 90% to 95% are failure to appear warrants on traffic tickets or other summonses.

blacks make up 60% of the population of Memphis, 20% of the population of the County, then other races. Yeah, but that's racist to point out, because we all know that all those black prisoners are innocent and only thrown in jail because they are black.

That is the total of all arrest warrants. Did you read the article? It quotes from the DOJ "report" thusly:
over 16,000 people had outstanding arrest warrants that had been issued by the court.
Reading comprehension is quite a marvel.
To: djf
Well, that’s just because “the system” is “racist”.
If we just didn’t have to live by YT’s rules,
then there wouldn’t be all those arrest warrants!

A hallmark of shoddy journalism is that it creates more questions than are answered. A few years ago Kinloch, a city near Ferguson, had its police force taken over by St. Louis County Police. They found that 20% of its residents had outstanding warrants for violent offenses and arrested the offenders. In that situation, the journalists did their job properly and cited the offenses.
In this report there is no mention of what the warrants are issued for, if there were multiple warrants to specific individuals, or were the reporters solely depending on the veracity of the inflammatory DOJ report.
This report was another effort to paint a good city with a wide and dirty brush. To get a better idea of the truth of Ferguson, check my other posts.

Your opinion would be reasonable if it were based on fact and not the complete distortion of the insidious and evil government/media complex. Ferguson is the spear point of an attempt to destroy, then federalize American cities. This is the fundamental transformation President Obama spoke of when he came into office.
If he and his minions succeed and create the situation you are calling for it will be repeated in other cities. Rather than cursing the darkness, join with me and others in praising the light. Pray for Ferguson, its mayor and the fine upstanding citizens who are fighting against organized thugs, partisan media hacks and the full weight and power of the state and federal government. It's a big job, and we need the support and prayers of good people like you.

sounds like the area is infected. simple solution. pull out all police. call in the national guard. surround the city. any wishing to leave, may do so once no warrants have been verified. if any with a warrant wish to leave, they would be incarcerated at the gate and warrants acted upon. those left inside the perimeter would be free to live their lives... inside the perimeter.---Post #14. Some quotes from your source:
Clouded by racial bias and a narrow-minded drive for municipal court revenue,
the shooting of an unarmed black teenager by a white Ferguson police officer
At the heart of the unlawful practices were racist attitudes that investigators found rampant
A grand jury declined to indict Wilson in November, touching off another wave of unrest.
The events in Ferguson polarized the country and prompted a national debate on race, justice and use of force by law enforcement.
Nice ... lots of race-baiting, blame-shifting, and incendiary rhetoric there ...
The charge that the city relied on more than any other was "failure to appear,"
And???? You don't show up for your court date, you just buy extra trouble. Is that difficult for urban blacks to understand?
The burden of this misguided court operation fell disproportionately on the town's poorest citizens,
Back to the inflammatory rhetoric.
most of them for minor violations such as parking and traffic infractions.

I disagree with you and I know a bit more about what's going on in Ferguson than you do. If your information is based on what is reported, your thoughts are understandable. However, you and the rest of the world are being fed a steady diet of distortions. I assume that you are wise enough to distrust what the media and the government tell you in most instances, why do you believe them in this one?
To: US Navy Vet
It's not. Don't believe the lies and distortions you're being fed. The good citizens of Ferguson are going through an unimaginably difficult time and we need your support, not your curses. Please pray that the thugs, outsiders, media, and government-supported agitators will be defeated and Ferguson can once again be the fine city it was. The citizens are fighting back as best we can, but it's David vs. Goliath. Remember who finally won that battle.

Interesting video. In saner times his points would be taken as serious kookdom, but we are not living in sane times. Some of the things I have seen on the ground in Ferguson back up many of his points. I am convinced that the Republic is in grave danger and that Ferguson is the first flash point.
Pray for us in Ferguson, that we will win this battle. Because if we are not victorious against it here and now, you will be fighting against it soon and in your area.
