In a recent video from PoliTech, some students from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX sought to find out how politically challenged our college-aged youths are. Several questions were asked to the students like, “Who won the Civil War, Who is our Vice-President, and Who did we gain our independence from?”

The problem has nothing to do with indoctrination.

************
Are you saying that there is no liberal brainwashing going on in our schools?

If you’ve instilled a love of learning in your children that’s great. But the “education system” (that we pay dearly for) is hard at work indoctrinating generations of children and de-emphasizing the development of critically important knowledge and skills. Instead, a vast amount of time and money is devoted to pushing the liberal agenda and on dubious courses that seek to indoctrinate rather than illuminate. Even if you motivate your children to learn, they are still being subjected to a steady barrage of educational content designed by liberals.

Liberals don’t want kids to question the actions of the state. They want to instill an unquestioning belief in them. Critical thinking is anathema to “liberal “educators”. I think we all know what happens to students who challenge the views of liberal teachers.

I salute families that encourage their children to get good educations. But the reality is those children are being exposed daily to a headwind that, with enough time, can erode resistance and influence them to be receptive to liberal ideas or at least not be inclined to challenge the views of their contemporaries. Its a very insidious form of indoctrination that seems to be working on most of America’s students.

“I went to basic with a guy who’s MOS was basically “undertaker”. I think the official term was “graves registration” but I’m not sure. His Dad owned a mortuary.”

I recall that’s the term Audie Murphy used in his book “To Hell and Back” so I’m sure you’re right.

The liberal agenda exists in college and to a far lesser extent in high school.
in the first eight years or so, it’s pretty basic stuff. Math, history, science, English etc,.

If you prepare your kids before school and encourage reading, unless they aren’t particularly bright, they will learn critical thinking.

The hard truth is that a lot of parents are idiots who never figured out life and they are passing along the same stupidity to their children.

And Civil Rights and MLK and Selma and Rosa Parks.

(According to some of my grandkids)

Civil rights, MLK, and Rosa Parks are big parts of American history.

Complaining that your grandkids are learning about this does not paint you in a flattering light, and I’m being diplomatic.

I’m betting that it’s made up- the people they speak to are coached what to say- either that or lots of people DID get the right answer, and they only showed gthe few who didn’t

There's always been that element, especially, I suspect, in those Jay Leno vids. However, I have had personal experiences that back up the basic premise:
"That'll be $17.76." says the 20-something checkout clerk.
"Famous date in history." sez I (always make some friendly comment to these folks.)
"Whut's that." sez he.
(Stunned) "This country's birthdate."
"Kewel."
Shakes head and departs, wondering how much longer we will last.

On any given day I’m not sure that the VP can name the VP.

But this is nothing new. On April 12 1945, hearing radio reports that Truman was being sworn in as President, a heck of a lot of Americans were like “Harry S Who?!?!?”

I’ve been stopped three times in my life for “man on the street” interviews.

Each time I’ve been cut off 2 or 3 questions in. When I asked why the answers were along the lines of “you aren’t what we’re” looking for.”. Because I was answering the questions correctly.

“you aren’t what we’re” looking for.”.

I can see that. But I still won’t watch anymore of those clips. At least for now. LOL

In one of them I wasn’t what they were looking for in more ways than one.

The reporter was a very cute young woman. After she cut the interview short I asked if I could take her out to dinner. She pretty much snorted an indignant “No”.

Saving my dignity I said “I’m too smart for you, hmm?” and quickly turned and started walking away. Her cameraman was laughing ... and I heard her say “go (eff) yourself, Ron”

That’s funny. Well, it sounds like you didn’t waste that dinner money. I wonder if she’s got a clue by now.
