State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf wrote her college honors thesis on “how conservative evangelical support for Israel complicates U.S. foreign policy,” according to Indiana University records.
This doesn’t appear to be a stretch of the source material by any means. Howley precisely quotes the article “College ‘Luminary’ Marie Harf followed father to IU, political science” which was published on November 10 last year on an Indiana University website:
She credits her IU professors — and especially her undergraduate honors advisors, political science professors Mike McGinnis and Marjorie Hershey, and English and Jewish studies professor Alvin Rosenfeld — for much of her career achievement.
“Those people, when I was 19 or 20, took an interest in me and encouraged me,” she said. “They really pushed me and made me think I could do big things.”
McGinnis had been a student of her father’s at Ohio State.
“You know you have been teaching a long time when a student introduces herself as the daughter of the professor who taught the first course you took in your chosen field,” he said.
McGinnis said he still remembers a paper he wrote for Jim Harf, an analysis of the neutron bomb then under consideration by the Carter administration, and the honors thesis Marie later wrote at IU on how conservative evangelical support for Israel complicates U.S. foreign policy.
The thesis was titled “The Religious Right in American Support for Israel.”
Three women were vying for a dream job each with the background that some employers prefer over others. One had a Master's Degree in Foreign Policy, another, many years as undersecretary to a UN diplomat, while the third was extraordinarily well endowed. Well, it seems Marie Harf qualifications for the job fell into the third category and that put everything in perfect perspective.
But now, it seems she had additional influence in being hired for the job based on her college thesis, which seems might even take precedence over being a Dolly Parton dead-ringer.

I’m surprised she has made it so far. She does not come from an elite priviledge liberal background. Her parents are not wealthy donors. He father is a professor at a good, but not elite university. Her mother works at some environmental non-profit. People get ahead in DC because of connections. I don’t see what kind of connections she has.
We’re talking work resume, what was revealed soon after she attracted notoriety to herself hen appearing on the public scene, people wondered how she got the job based on her work history. Going on the internet to check her background as it was, won’t usually have “Anti-Semite”, “Anti-Israel” as a point of reference.

Other than having blonde hair, Marie Harf doesn't bear any resemblance to Dolly Parton. Dolly is beautiful, smart, and successful, despite having been born very poor. Marie Harf is just another plain, over-educated, limousine liberal.

It seems you don’t understand the concept of analogies. I never said she looked like Dolly Parton. I used Dolly Parton as an example of why women ordinarily unqualified for a particular job get hired.

Why did Marie Harf take Jewish studies in college? Why did she take Russian and Eastern European studies? What is her religion and/or ethnicity anyway?

I don’t see the connection either esp. that her first job was in the DIRECTORATE at the CIA. She’s no ordinary CIA person -not even cruising up the ranks.
