It is for good reason that the punishment for treason has always been death. Labour in the UK; liberals in the US; all treasonous reptilian, insect-like sub-humans.

When people betray their own people, their own neighbors, their own communities, their own nation, their own culture, etc., etc., there is no other suitable punishment.

They can never again be trusted as allies or neighbors. They would never be honorable as enemies. Hanging them is the most human and humane treatment they could possibly get, when squishing them like an insect would be more appropriate.
