I know this thread and topic is going to go over like a lead balloon but I have to say it. The constant, prevalent and gruesome pro-life themed articles are really becoming a nuisance to this long time reader and occasional poster.
This is not a call for a pro-choice viewpoint, I'm not advocating that personally and realize that will, thankfully, never happen here. However there becomes a point when preaching to the choir about the horrors of abortion in heinous detail either visually or in writing just becomes disgusting.
I frequent this site overnight and scanning from top to bottom I run into articles from Liveactionnews.org (Two back to back articles tonight.) Clinicquotes.com (Two more articles tonight.) that are more vile, nauseating and cringe worthy than anything put together by Clive Barker, Steven King or Thomas Harris.
It wouldn't be so bad if the most sensational and graphic parts of the posts were made outside the first, browsable/readable, part of the feed. Therefore it is unavoidable to people looking for other topics. Of course though the click bait nature of the net demands it comes first.
This is a message to the repeat posters of articles of these sites. Enough. We are all aware of what the topic at hand entails. We know about the process, the thorough descriptions and vomitous images. We don't need to be beat over the head with it when people on this site pray for change, vote for change, donate to change and volunteer for changes in abortion as it exists in America.
You are preaching to evangelized, there aren't many converts to be had here and no one wants to have their breakfast day after day after day with the images you posit in their cranium at first light. Free Republic has replaced my morning paper and since I cancelled my real morning paper long ago, for obvious reasons, I tire of waking up every day to the printed word version of snuff films before I eat Cheerios and head out for morning cardio.
This site has firm filters on a number of websites for conspiracy theories, political reasons and content reasons. In my opinion Free Republic does not need to be littered with sensational click bait for pro-life outlets and significant driver of traffic for their fundraising and activism. This is especially true when it becomes noticeable enough that comments need to be made to that effect.
If you are going to discuss banning pro life threads because they make you feel “sick” or bad, then you are going to have to open up the discussion to any thread material that makes people uneasy. Some freepers have issue with barely clothed models. Some freepers have issue with discussing black on white, white on black crime. Some freepers have issues with the gardening thread.. because they don’t have a garden. IMHO, Free Republic is a pro life site that allows threads of all nature to be discussed/posted about in a conservative manner. If an article topic isn’t “interesting” to me, I simply won’t read it.
Since we have called out Morgana’s name.. let me be the first one to praise her for her work. She has lifted the stone off of what many want to pretend doesn’t exist. It is ugly at times. It is heartbreaking too. However, you and I don’t know what goes on in everyday Freepers lives. Could a freeper consider abortion, for example, if told their baby had Down Syndrome? Could their daughter or sister? Would they have the knowledge and strength to persuade someone to choose life over convenience? The anti abortion, pro life threads make all of us aware.. daily.. that abortion is occurring and will continue to occur unless people make a change of heart.
On a last note, MORGANA speaks for those who can’t. She gives dignity to a life mutilated, burned, and discarded into trash cans. She makes these little lives relevant by speaking FOR THEM because no one else is doing it. She holds their lives as value instead of “a cluster of cells”. For too long, pro choice people attempted to diminish human lives... FR is a site (IMHO) that celebrates their life and mourns the loss of it.

Sorry, seminar poster, but you are a pro-”choicer”. You protest too much to the contrary. Your post has a logic problem: a “snuff” film implies the snuffing is being perpetrated on a human being. So, following your logic, the beheadings, burnings, slaughters and summary executions by ISIS should be banned as well.

Sweet Lord Jesus, I don’t think that they will. I believe the ability to kill their babies must be denied them by first closing all abortion clinics in the United States—via an enactment of the Supreme Court of each state, and then ultimately by the Supreme Court of the United States. But the former first, because the SC likely will rule to continue killing babies.
I seldom read the abortion articles and never post them, but hey, who forces you to, either?

Say a lurker happened to be pro-abortion, and an article got through to the person and changed his/her mind on the issue. Say the lurker was a pregnant woman considering an abortion, and after reading, she decided she couldn’t go through with killing her baby. I’d say it was worth it. Wouldn’t you?

I am pro-life myself - but have to skip the threads you have pointed out.
I do not need to see/read that to know what occurs.
