Why I'm Keeping My Pregnancy a Secret From My Baby's Father
yahoo.com ^ | Janaury 8, 2014 | JL Scott

I blinked at my computer screen. It was a response to an email I had sent to a friend telling her I was 12 weeks pregnant and that the father was someone I had met during my summer abroad. He didn’t know I was pregnant — and I had no plans to tell him.

I had expected surprise or at the very least, “Congratulations!” but her response made me briefly wonder whether I was setting myself —and my baby — up for a lifetime of second guessing.

Still, 10 weeks later, now that I’ve found out I’m having a daughter, my position is clear, if controversial: Despite the unfairness and complications, I will not tell this man that he has a child.

I met Nick at a bar one Thursday night in Dublin, where I lived for several months while working on a writing project. I had gotten used to exploring my new city alone and meeting whoever came along. After a few vodka sodas, I invited Nick back to my apartment. The truth is, I didn’t want to talk to him anymore. He and I disagreed about almost everything. Still, the physical connection was palpable.

We had sex, and in the moment, neither of us were as careful as we should have been. As we said goodbye, we had an awkward conversation. “And you’re … okay?” He asked tentatively, clearly referring to birth control.

I nodded. I wasn’t, exactly — my birth control prescription had run out a few months before and, because I was abroad, I hadn’t gotten a new one.

“Read the article. SHE’S AN IDIOT.”

She may be an idiot, but she is not a Cold Blooded Murderer like millions of other American women.

I can’t believe what I am seeing. She didn’t want to talk to him anymore. They disagreed about many things. So when you meet such a man you take him home for the night so you don’t have to talk to him, and you do other things instead??? What the heck kind of thought process is that????

I will be the best mother possible.

Sure, letting your birth control run out for months and inviting "whoever came along" into your daughter's home. You'll never be the best mother possible until you do a 180.

Exactly. If she didn’t want the man in her life, she shouldn’t have allowed him into her body.

What’s more, I grew up with a father who would often belittle me. I never wanted that for my own child and I also knew that my rocky bond with my father had established a pattern for my own adult relationships.

Behind every leftist lies a person with Father issues.

Just look at the last two Democrat Presidents for example.

Your perspective is almost as sick as this woman's excuses. Or would you have us believe you were using 'bastard' in a generic sense? Your sarcasm belies your motivation ...

Blaming the child by labeling that child sarcastically is one of the excuses women use with themselves to allow themselves a trip to the abortuary. It is only after their hiring of the serial killer that they realize their excuses are vainglorious. Try to focus upon the life of the innocent child. It is so much more Christian to give support tot he child than to condemn all lives involved.

Imagine how happy the baby might be in a traditional marriage.

Find the answer to that and millions of men will pay you for it. Some men know instinctively. Many never have a clue.

I only know Nick’s first name

Because guys are always honest with easy pick ups at bars. He could be Fred, Hobart, Mohamed, Patrick or Seamus.

Could this chick even locate the father of her child if she DID want to tell him?

Probably not but her extreme narcissism blocked her from understanding that. I pity the child more for being born to such a self absorbed, selfish twit, than for not having a sperm donor in her life. Not a chance a pig like “Nick” was going to be a father anyways. This screed of hers is nothing more than foolish prattling about the consequences of sin.

And while becoming pregnant at age 31 wasn’t something I’d consciously planned, I’m cautiously optimistic that the life skills I’ve cultivated thus far will serve me well in my new role.

Clueless is not a life skill. The only proper thing this narcissist has done is to not kill the baby. And she tried that first.

Sadly, the child will probably never have the warmth of a real family life.

While this dimwit might eventually get over her own “second-guessing”, sadly, she has set up her child to have a lifetime of it.

With regards to the woman -knock yourself out/up, so long as the rest of us do not have to pay for her flings...

But her child will be deprived of something invaluable because of her mother's poor impulse control and need for gratification. And we as a society do pay for that.

And then there's the father - what of him? are fathers only important when the mother wants money and the courts go looking for him?

Based upon the observations you made about mom, and the likely fact that the daughter will never have a positive stable father figure in her life, the odds are very high that when she reaches adolescence, she will have severe behavior problems, become defiant and oppositional, turn to drugs and/or alcohol, and also be sexually promiscuous.

But I doubt mom will second guess her one night stand based on those developments. She’ll probably blame Republicans for not providing enough public assistance.

Yeah, yeah. I know. There are no illegitimate children. Only illegitimate parents.

Fact remains - that child is now damaged for life.

Clueless is not a life skill.

Slut is not a life skill, either. She's a mother at 31, I predict she'll be a grandmother at 45. She needs to radically reform her life, or her daughter will end up worse off than she is.

She needs repentance, and conversion.

She needs a Savior.

She needs Jesus Christ.

Lord bless this woman, and her daughter, abundantly with the grace of repentance and conversion.
