I am thinking about picking up an AR7, just to have in the bug out pack. Its more a pack I toss into the truck when driving long distances in the winter. I don't really expect to be caught alone in a 4x4 truck in the wild lands of Vermont for long, but I never know. And I do not want to drive around with my Remington 700 in the back seat.
So, has anyone owned one and are they worth it. Its the break down capability I am looking for. I guess there are other weapons that break down as well. I just haven't thought of them.
Those British cars are worth more, and more every year.
Everyone I have ever talked to who sold their for $50 bucks or left it with a relative, or abandoned it in a junkyard say, without failing, that it was one their biggest regrets ever in their lives.
When I was in High School, TRs, MGs, and the like were cars for people who could not afford a Camaro. Today, they are amazing collectible cars. You just have sort out the electricals, and then they are amazing.
I think my aunt’s was white with a logo on each side near the taillights.
That is a pretty sharp looking car in the photo.
If you are in the middle of a bug out, you’d want a ready-to-use weapon anyway, rather than an assemble-in-the-face-of-a-threat weapon. Get a nice AR-15 style 22LR, cheap but deadly.
First car I ever bought was a ‘73 Triumph Spitfire. Learned a lot about fixing cars for the couple of years I had it - clutch master-cylinder re-build; brake master-cylinder re-build; clutch slave-cylinder re-build; rear main-seal; constantly adjusting and tweaking Weber dual-carbs; and sorting out gremlins with the Lucas electronics.
The Brits thoughtfully had the bonnet flip up and forward, providing comfortable seating while accessing the engine (the Michelin radials I put on to replace the stock bias-ply tires (or was it tyres?).
Despite all the maintenance, one of the most fun cards I’ve ever had. And the only car I ever made money on - bought it used for $1,600 and sold it for $1,800.
I wanted a Nylon 66 back when, but I had other priorities. Since gun prices have gone crazy, a nice one brings a pretty good price nowadays. I don’t shoot mine much (even when I find ammo), but it’s one of my favs. My favorite gun is the well-worn Winchester 06 that belonged to my Dad.
Oh, I have one of those, and a full sized AR. I am more talking about either being stuck four miles from home, or just to have in the truck, in case.
If it is a bug out situation, I have that covered (probably more than I could ever use—someone picking over my stupid corpse would be happy!)
