DECEMBER 16, 2014 Jeb Bush: The Wrong Name At The Wrong Time Hes not the candidate Republicans need for 2016. By Charles C. W. Cooke
And theyre off! This morning, in a notably understated Facebook post, former Florida governor Jeb Bush announced that he was thinking about thinking about running for the White House. I have decided, Bush confirmed, to actively explore the possibility of running for President of the United States. Best wishes to you and your families for a happy holiday season, he teased. Ill be in touch soon.
The reactions came thick and fast. Depending on the speaker, Bush was greeted as a glorified Democrat, hiding inside an elephants hide; as a colorless moderate, too insipid and too dull to provoke any reaction at all; or as precisely the sort of competent, calm, and respectable politician that Republicans will need if they are to win back control of the executive branch.
Celebrating the move, Bushs champions focused on his excellent record as a two-term governor and played up his social conservatism; lamenting the news, his detractors relitigated his approach to the disaster that is Common Core, and his unreliable position on immigration. Would Bush be a good president? Your mileage may vary.

There's a BIG difference between Jeb and GW.
GW won election. There's no way Jeb can win.
You need to re-think your plan NOW, GOPe.
As do I, although 'detest' would not be my word of choice. More like 'repulsed.' That has always puzzled me. Why legal native-born and naturalized non-hyphenated citizens don't also feel the same.
I finally realized that for me, it is the terrible similarities of American political dynasties mimicking the old European "Royalty" system of government, which the original "American Republic" was created to get away from.
It was almost successful?
Barbara Tuchman's, The Proud Tower does an excellent job of documenting the inevitable trajectory of the evolution of European Royalty into more representative type of government, in fact, if not in name.
But no such evolution is possible in a nation which has never known any form of government other than a Representative Democratic Republic. Not to be confused with a grandiose "Democracy," described most often by the Founding Fathers as a "mobocracy. To be avoided at all costs.
My wife is from DeFuniak Springs...
Jeb did a fine job as Governor of my state, Florida.
BUT he is not a conservative any more than his papa or brother.
I really like Mrs Bush Senior and the other first lady Bush was great
BUT I will not again vote for a Bush.
Real conservative or go fish.
No more RINO trash.
This is right up with Biden think he has a chance.
If a Perry-Bush ticket is what it comes down to, would you just stay home on Election Day 2016? Who do you like?
No, I will never vote for pro-amnesty, liberal Republicans Perry or Bush. That they can support the ILLEGAL hordes and still get votes gives them no reason to change. And it is no secret who I like. I support Ted Cruz, the only real conservative who will likely run.
Perry's pro-ILLEGAL alien past is well-known. If you support Bush, here is what you will be voting for.
Jeb Bush Thinks He Can Persuade The Republican Base To Get Behind Immigration Legislation
Yes, I’m getting that impression about JB from others as well. Not so much about Perry but I’ll assume you are correct.
Perry’s long history of supporting ILLEGAL aliens is well known. From his support and signing of the Texas DREAM Act which guarantees taxpayer-funded instate tuition and financial aid to ILLEGAL aliens to his labeling as “heartless” conservatives and all who dared disagree with his liberal position, to his statement that he “Embraces Vicente Fox’s vision of an open border”, to his vocal support of amnesty wherein he said he was for a “pathway to citizenship for those here ILLEGALLY”, Perry is all about supporting the ILLEGAL alien. Factor in his completely asinine comment wherein he said Hillary was a “Great Secretary of State” and you see why he will never get my vote.
Perry’s not quite the solver of problems I thought he was. And if he said that about Hillary Clinton as Sec of State, that’s almost reason enough right there.

He could do that (because he’s a politician) but adequate-information voters would never let him get away with it.
