This attack on Reagan reminds me of an even earlier story. The American Liberty League in it's fight against FDR.

Ted Baxter thinks Bobby Kennedy was the best politician in American History.
Tells you what you need to know about Baxter.

One can be a good politician in the sense of being successful without being a good person or a politician whose policies are good for his country. One can also be a fine person who means the best for the country and a poor politician (John Adams, Herbert Hoover).

RFK wasn't such a great politician--he won one Senate race in a heavily Democratic state, but he was going to lose the nomination to Hubert Humphrey, despite his win in the California primary.

Pretty sure Baxter admires Bobby Kennedy - the man. I doubt he would make the distinction the he admires him as a politician.
