Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) has been a mixed bag on foreign policy, generally solid in opposing Russian aggression and on Irans nuclear program, but inconsistent if not illogical on Syria and fighting the Islamic State and terribly misguided in attempting to hamstring the National Security Agency.
One issue on which Cruz has been coy is defense spending. At the Foreign Policy Initiative forum this week, he told the audience that in all likelihood we need to spend more on defense. He then dwelt on a puny $120 million unnecessary item for algae fuel studies and insisted that we needed to spend more of the defense budget on war-fighting than bureaucracy. He certainly seems to have a foot in both the green-eyeshade camp and the hawk camp, but on this issue he will need to definitively choose: Do we keep the sequester or not? How will he pay for that if he does not want to raise the top-line budget numbers? Really, it is quite astounding that at a time we are headed for the smallest Army, Navy and Air Force in modern times and are discharging soldiers, sailors and airmen at an alarming rate he should be fixated on a $120 million item in a budget of $585 billion.
What Cruz did not bring up was another misguided venture his bipartisan effort (thankfully defeated) to take sexual assault investigations out of the chain of command. (Maybe he recalled that forum moderator Bill Kristol was a leading critic of interfering with the chain of command.) We wish Cruz would explain himself on that topic....

Jennifer “JEB! Is My Homeboy” Rubin.
"My Master said "Let the Palinization of Cruz begin."
Oh Yeh! Jennifer Rubin the go to girl for info and opinion on GOP contenders. LOL!
She was said to favor Romney in 2012.
Gee...
Could Romney’s campaign for 2016 have started already?
I Don't know if she has used that herself, but is hilarious and obvious.
Unpredictable which keeps our enemies guessing. Who was the last guy to do that with great success? Oh yeah, Reagan!
“We begin bombing in five minutes”
I see another preemptive strike by the GOPe media wing has taken place. Get used to it folks because the hits on Cruz, Walker, and other conservatives are going to be numerous and constant, and as we have already seen, it will come from the GOPe as well as the left. Rubin and the rest of the GOPe are getting the stage set for Jeb “Amnesty” Bush.
Right above this article is a posted article that says, "Hillary Clinton: We Need to Empathize With Americas Enemies".
Yet the Wash Post writes nonsense about Ted Cruz's national security credentials.
lol.
I mean really, LOL.
Boeing just tested a ‘green’ diesel that’s $3/gallon. That’s the best price on this stuff I’ve heard of since they started talking about this sort of thing. Supposedly keeps emissions down up to 90%
If all of that is true, great. I’m all for it. All waste streams that can economically be reused for profit should be.
Jennifer Rubin is erratic on everything
Ruben is after him now. They must be worried about him but I have yet to see them put a mark on him...besides the “he was born in Canada” thing. Ofcourse, they don’t care where Obama was born nor if he’s even a US citizen after living in Indonesia. But a conservative...suddenly the rinos and libs are now all birthers.
Cruz is an independent thinker and pro American. That’s taboo. He must join the herd and moo when ordered by the rinos and globalists.
So early for them to start telling us whom they really fear. The Jeb, lets elect Hitlary crew is already whining because there’s a man in the room.
Jennifer Rubin . .erratic by nature
Jennifer Rubin, the GOPe’s voice.
Yes, she is.
Romney never stopped. While you haven’t heard from him he has been schmoozing the billionaires.
