According to Luke ONeil, reporting on Black Friday brawls is both classist and racist.
The story, called Black Friday brawl videos are how rich people shame the poor, ONeil says that rich people report on Black Friday violence in order to make fun of and shame poor people.
Dont think that people should be brawling in a Wal-Mart or mall? Then youre a rich snob, ONeil explains. You take your wealth for granted, he writes, and make fun of people fighting in Best Buy because youre privileged.
Look at these hilarious poor people, ONeil writes, struggling to take advantage of a deal on something they might not otherwise be able to afford on items that we take for granted, we joke on Twitter.
On top of this, capitalism plays a behinds-the-scene role, according to ONeil. In other words, videos of the type of violence that takes place on Black Friday are being used to sell the shopping holiday back to us, he writes, the capitalist serpent swallowing its own tail.
And while not all Black Friday shoppers are African American, ONeil believes that they are intentionally, prominently shown for shock effect. Theres no denying, he explains, the demographics that seem to show up again in the type of videos we all find so hilarious, however. As weve seen of late in the Ferguson-related unrest, the physical struggles of non-white America writ large make for great television.

if rich people were somehow forcing the poor to participate in violence and filming it, to then criticize the poor, i’d agree with the author.
but nobody is forcing them to behave ths way. why does being poor give anyone a free pass to not be criticized as to their negative behavior towards other people they share the planet with?
there is no inherent virtue in being poor. being poor is a condition, an attribute, a level of existence, that can change, it’s not a virtue. many awful greedy people are poor. you aren’t Jesus just because you’re poor. Jesus wouldn’t stomp down someone for a black friday “deal”.
For a somewhat similar conservative perspective, see this article.

It addresses the disdain and contempt cool and presumably well-off people have for Walmart and the People of Walmart.
Let’s face it, as long as even one white person lives anywhere in the world, everything that can be conceived will be racist.
Now that we have that settled, let’s just move on.
For later
A little OT, but this year Walmart is advertising Christmas on TV, saying Merry Christmas, showing a manger scene, etc. Must have done some consumer research.
I’m willing to bet that Mr. Luke O’Neill has yukked it up many times in the past over fat, poorly dressed Caucasians in “The People Of Walmart.”
So this purported washington compost “writer” conveniently overlooks the choice of these ferals to loot and cause mayhem? Maybe they are the result of distorted “reporting” by the biased marxist fools in the degenerate and distorting media. People like this freak helped create this class of uncivilized boobs through mis-reporting, under-reporting, distorted-reporting, bad-reporting and, generally, poor journalism. The writer should resign an roam America in sack cloth, beat themselves incessantly with sticks, begging for forgiveness.
Or could it be that it's harder to find predominantly white crowds engaging in that behavior?
Indeed, reporting on any form of crime - and especially violent crime - involving Black perpetrators is likewise a form of "micro-racism," and should be prohibited.
Coming soon to a theatre near you!

“Black Friday Violence is Classist, Racist”
It’s also animalistic, symptomatic and just generally Fked Up!
Agreed, and my wife and I have responded to the deterioration of our culture the same way.
Evil whites be arraingin’ the bread and circuses for their entertainment.
Right...
Why don’t you just whiten their faces, Marxist press? You use that trick all the time, after all, to show your enemies (anyone white/light-skinned).
How ‘bout Cracker Monday?
Triple agree — my husband and I.
Children are actually the solution, because: they bring joy to the world; they put something bigger than you into your life, immediately; you have a direct impact on how the world will be in the future through them.
My kids will not be slaves to the pushers and grabbers at WalMart. They will have lives worth living, for Christ, and they will impact others around them.
I don't think that people should be brawling in a Wal-Mart, and I shop at Wal-Mart.
Which means....I'm not rich.
So maybe I'm a snobbish Wal-Mart shopper. Or something.
