I think the alien represents those from every nation and tongue (language) who are included in God's plan of redemption for the world, so that is why Israel was required to be just. Israel is not better than any other people, they were just blessed with being chosen to reveal the glory of God to the world. Greater task, greater blessing.

Why must all oppressed people come here? Do people in oppressed countries not have a GODLY duty to change their own countries? Does GOD only live in the US? Is their time better spent trying to change their own countries? American citizens have NOTHING to feel guilty about.

Also, the current Federal government is hopelessly politicized meaning that some want more aliens here so they will vote for more free government handouts. God knows who actually needs charity and who is cynically gaming the system. Paul wrote that he who does not work should not eat. Is that the way our welfare system works. Absolutely not.
America has been extremely charitable in allowing access to foreigners, far more than any other country. We are also the most charitable country on earth, giving away billions annually privately and through the government. I hope that God is pleased with this and feel assured that He won't punish us for not killing the goose that laid the golden egg.
I live in LA, and as more and more illegals flooded into my area, I saw more bars on doors and windows, more graffiti, more catcalling of women on the streets, more single women with lots of kids buying food with food stamps, more crime, more drunk driving, more unlicensed drivers, schools becoming more dangerous and adding metal detectors, more gangs, etc., etc. Could this really be God's will? Does God want Americans to be beaten, raped, killed, hit by drunk drivers, have to wait eight hours or more in the emergency room, women harassed on the streets, having to pay for welfare for people who don't deserve it, the border trashed, drugs, and on and on? The Bible says "by their fruits you will know them," well, I say, by its fruits we shall know illegal immigration. Along with illegal immigration comes outrages that God could not possibly approve of.
When Moses and the Israelites wanted to pass through Edom, they asked permission first. They promised not to be any trouble, not to cost or inconvenience the Edomites in any way. When the Edmomites still said no, Moses didn't say, "Oh, you xenophobes, we're coming in anyway and we're taking over." No, he led the Isrealites all the way around Edom, at great inconvenience to them. I believe this tells us that illegals should apply to come here LEGALLY, that they should not hurt or inconvenience Americans in any way, and if they are denied entrance for any reason, they should respect that and stay in their own countries. If God approved of illegal immigration, He would have told Moses to go ahead and enter Edom.
The US oppresses the Alien less than any other nation is history. The US allows the Alien to become non-Alien.

Context is everything. In context Jesus referred to the aliens who were permitted to live in the Holy Land. He said nothing about being nice to invaders.

Citizenship is available at 6 years and 3 (I think) but only for some kinds of married couples.
Just look at what has happened to other countries that have opened their doors to hoards of immigrants — France, Sweden, Spain, the UK, etc. It’s a disaster. And most of them are legal immigrants, unlike the illegals we have here.
I’m thinking that we are not in New Jeruselem, we are in the United States of America. Therefore we deal with an imperfect world where international affairs resembles nothing so much as feral cats carving up territory. If we need more people, or if some humanitarian crisis is afoot which threatens to wipe out entire groups, then we exercise our best judgment to take in more people. Trying to say you have to pass a test after you were born here is also unjust because it is arbitrary and besides, what happens to the people who flunk? No, you take the good with the bad just like in families.
In the Old Testament God commanded that every nonbeliever, unless they promised to obey the laws of God, were to be killed, along with the families and animals.

Foreigners were not permitted to rule over Israelites (Deut. 17:15), and foreigners dwelling there were required to obey the religious laws of the land (Num. 15:16; 9:14, and Lev. 18:26; 24:22).
A far cry from today’s immigrants, legal and illegal, who keep their own customs and religions, often demanding that WE adjust to THEM.
