TX:Possible Mass Shooting Stopped by Armed Citizen?
Gun Watch ^ | 19 November, 2014 | Dean Weingarten

Some mass killings have occurred at clubs.  The most infamous has been the "Happyland social club" in New York City, where 87 people were murdered by arson in 1990.

An armed citizen may have stopped an attempted mass killing in El Paso, Texas on Sunday, the 16th of November.   A 23-year-old Hispanic man had been thrown out of the appropriately named "Club Khaos" at about 1 a.m.  He returned to the entrance of the club and started shooting.  He hit five people; one of them is in critical condition.  From the elpasotimes.com:

A 21-year-old man was hit in the torso/chest area and received serious injuries but is in stable condition, Sambrano said.

The shooter also hit a 24-year-old man, a 25-year-old woman, a 21-year-old woman and 19-year-old woman. All received what are described as "non-life-threatening injuries" and are considered stable, Sambrano said.

The suspect was shot in the leg by an unknown individual and investigators believe this person was acting in self-defense, Sambrano said.
The armed man who stopped the attack has not been identified at this time, and the police would like to talk to him.

The AP story identifies the attacker as Martin Guerrero.  AP does not mention that Guerrero was shot by an armed defender.

“The armed man who stopped the attack has not been identified at this time, and the police would like to talk to him.”

If he’s smart, he’ll remain anonymous. Why subject yourself to prosecution or civil suits?

I don’t want to be nit picky but it’s really a shame the hero didn’t just shoot the perp dead.

In this society...had he shot the shooter dead - there would have been a ton of law suits - you know, because the shooter was about to become “a legal US Citizen under King Barry and was going to solve the cancer epidemic and design space ships that would take us to other worlds...”

...it doesn’t pay to go out anymore into society - the Demo-rats have made it impossible to enjoy life...until the are eradicated from politics and laws reversed - I stay away from places like that...

Yeah, maybe the club shouldn’t be so racist and should have posted the gun free zone sign in Spanish too. Obviously the poor misunderstood youth couldn’t read it. Even though he was prepared to commit murder (a fair assumption given he was shooting people) I’m sure an easily understood sign in Spanish would have dissuaded him.... :-/

Hope the defender remains anonymous. The jihadi crowd in the Whitehouse wants our guns so we can dig our own graves, then dutifully wait to take a bullet for the “Homeland” while the jihadis spend our money on state-run crony-capitalist schemes. It happened in Russia, and it can happen here. Don’t let them take our guns!

If he's smart, he'll stay unidentified. At least until he's had a chance to talk to a lawyer and determine that he hasn't broken any Texas laws by having a gun while in an establishment which serves alcohol.

Maybe he, the club and the 19-year old woman can split the attorney fees...

I think I’m going to take a break from news/politics for awhile. It’s just depressing. We have too much violence and strife for a supposed civilized, first world nation. But anyways, it’s bringing me down and I’m beginning to think ignorance really is bliss.

” I’m sure an easily understood sign in Spanish would have dissuaded him.... :-/”

To prove your point the Texas “no guns allowed” signs at bars are required to be in Spanish.

Another reason to carry a revolver instead of a semi auto IMHO.

I bet they would like to talk to him. He had the nerve to carry in a gun free zone.

More details:

http://www.kfoxtv.com/news/features/top-stories/stories/Alleged-Club-Khaos-shooter-identified-booked-into-El-Paso-jail-58362.shtml

Martin Daniel Guerrero (the gunman) is a Specialist (Spc.) in the U.S. Army and assigned to 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, said Fort Bliss officials.

The 23-year-old man was charged with five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to jail records. Guerrero was booked into the El Paso County Jail on bonds totaling $250,291.

After the shooting early Sunday morning, Guerrero was placed in custody and taken to a local hospital.

Another odd bit:

Guerrero was arrested in February on suspicion of assault causing bodily injury to a family member by impeding breath, according to jail records. He was booked into El Paso County jail on Feb. 12 and released on a $5,00 bond on Feb. 14.

He’s in a good position, so long as he has a good lawyer.
Standard legal principle: you may break a law so long as doing so is required to prevent a greater harm than what the law intended to prevent. In this case, no carry in bars attempted to prevent harm, but to do so would in this case have resulted in greater harm, and by violating that law he was able to prevent the greater harm.

The police should shake the guy’s hand, thank him, and give him a pat on the back.

The mayor should give him the key to the city in a ceremony at city hall.

But of course the PoPo will shake down this guy's family 'til it turns up a weapon, then wrench his arm behind his back... then off to city JAIL where the mayor will throw away the key.
