as Post-tribber I fear that the left behind movies and the false theology of the rapture will b used to persuade believers to accept the anti-Christ. One thing I recently realized is the “great wonders” performed by the anti-Christ will NOT be any of the miracles of a Savior but more like those of natural disasters or the 10 plagues. Some of which were replicated by the Egyptian priests. No one will be healed. Physical healing represents the rejuvenation of our soul thru salvation and becoming like our Messiah, IMHO.
Exactly. And most attempts to explain it away ends up in Preterism.
If you get a chance by all means order The Coming Prince By Sir Robert Anderson it is amazing book on study of Daniel’s Seventy Weeks.
I won't care - the goal will be in reach...
Me too. Some are adamant that their version is right. My last couple pastors (over the last 15 years or so) have said that they really don't know which version may be the more correct and that we shouldn't worry about it because His Will will be done and we will either go along for the ride or not - that will be decided by what transpires with us prior to His second coming....
Point out where the church is mentioned anywhere in Revelation after chapter 3.
Hint: It's not. There is no church on earth at that point.
Sorry for the delay, internet issues at home. I guess I would probably be classified as a Preterist. As I said I have heard all these doctrines from the pulpit and seen great dissension in congregations because of them which should not have occurred. Spreading the Gospel is our primary mission I think and believe.
Thanks for your honest reply. It answers why you said what matters is the gospel, not the end time. Since, to preterists, prophecy was fulfilled back in 70 AD, then, of course, the “end time” does not matter to you.
I say both matters, the true gospel and true eschatology. The NT teaches both. Preterism is one of the worst delusions that has ever entered the mind of man.
If the lead article was written by a preterist as yourself, then it confirms what I said to begin with: it is highly delusional in hiding such fact from us.
You would be right the end of days is something I don’t worry of concern myself with. Christ’s Grace took care of that in my view. I have witnessed pastors and members just lose it, surprisingly mostly pastors who will not tolerate another view on this subject.
My current pastor is a millinialist, but in ten yrs. he has never preached the end of time sermon on that philosophy. He knew taking the position that several of the church deacons and many members of the congregation who believe as I do. That being said the pastor would tell you and has stated in sermons he has never felt restrained or compelled by the deacons or members to preach one way or the other, he has freedom to preach as the Lord leads him.
He preaches redemption and the saving Grace of Christ and the church continues to have tremendous growth.
We’re tail end Charlie on this thread, so I’ll end with this. Your pastor is not here to defend himself, but with all respects to him, if he is a “millennialist” (I think you mean PRE-millennialst, he’s not preterist) as you say, then with six thousand years of human history coming to a head in our times, with so much of the Bible about it, and he is afraid to touch top, side, or the bottom of it, then he isn’t much of a pastor (shepherd), in my opinion.
Sounds like he is a hireling, afraid he might offend and run off the few preterists, like yourself, he has in the congregation.
Where I go to church, the pastor doesn’t suffer fools lightly, especially preterists. If they are offended, too bad, he would tell them to find themselves a preterist pastor somewhere.
I would respectfully disagree on him being a hireling. Again does preaching the Good News mean more than man contrived doctrine or not? He thinks so, however were he to preach a message on the end of times with his views, there would be no fireworks and hostility from his deacons or congregation. The previous pastor was of the same accord and preached many sermons with that doctrinal point of view and the church went along just fine.
“Where I go to church, the pastor doesnt suffer fools lightly, especially preterists. If they are offended, too bad, he would tell them to find themselves a preterist pastor somewhere.”
See what I say about pastors getting the most upset if you disagree with their doctrine. If he would be more concerned about end time doctrine rather leading souls to Christ I would tell him his priorities are in the wrong place.
See how quickly this could go down hill. Seen it happen too many times and it’s almost always a pastor who goes ballistic if you don’t agree with him 100% on doctrine.
This would go, as you say, downhill all right, were we to get into what you have bought into, hook, line, and sinker, and what your pastor seems so indifferent about. Not this time.
You seem an honest and decent man - even if you are preterist (ha, ha, just joking) - it’s been great talking with you. Have a good day.
You as well.
