After the astounding victories by Republicans last night, it was only a matter of time until liberals tried to make sense of it all, while still not admitting that they were defeated.
Rachel Maddow of MSNBC earned the gold medal for mental gymnastics last night, however, by claiming that Democrats won the argument when it came to their policies by losing the Senate.
This sentiment was then echoed on Rachel Maddows MSNBC blog, in a post titled, A Win? Yes. A Mandate? No.
The piece says that, with an overwhelming victory, Republicans will say the election was an endorsement from the American people that affords them the right to pursue their top priorities.
Smugly, the piece retorts, Its a nice argument, which happens to be wrong.
The piece then states that Republicans have no issues other than Ebola-stricken terrorists in Mexico.

She’s not a fan of man-dates
To be a liberal/Marxist you MUST be able to hold two contrasting views in your mind at the same time and believe both of them. Its a rule.
I turned on MSDNC last night so that I could see their frowning faces..it was PRICELESS..such angry, bitter, pieces of filth all in a room together yelling at the TV..loved every minute of it
Cognitive dissonance on a rampage today :)
To see so many people so disconnected with reality is actually frightening.
I'm not worried about her, it's the President denying reality that is scary.
Well Maddow you all can just keep on winning the “argument” we’ll settle for winning elections!
I watched the Pens win their 5th straight, the pubbies win +7 senators, and all three cable news coverages.
FOX was as usual, the best, but the crying and rending of garments at cnn and msnbc was worth a quick look-see every now and then.
Schadenfreude is terrific and rachelmadcow has long ago gone insane.
It is difficult to accept that the Dems won the argument. Many of the Republican Senate wins were routs (drubbings, as one CNN commentator call it late last evening):
Arkansas
Cotton (R) 57%
Pryor (D/Inc) 39%
Georgia
Perdue (R) 53%
Nunn (D) 45%
Iowa
Ernst (R) 52%
Braley (D) 44%
Kansas
Roberts (R/Inc) 53%
Orman (I) 42%
Kentucky
McConnell (R/Inc) 56%
Grimes (D) 41%
Montana
Daines (R) 58%
Curtis (D) 40%
South Dakota
Rounds (R) 50%
Weiland (D) 30%
West Virginia
Capito (R) 62%
Tennant (D) 34%
What's more disturbing is the high # of people that still actually believe the lies.
...the TV ad did say..
...side-effects may include oral diarrhea and mental constipation...see your doctor for symptoms of abnormal anal hair growth or cranial horn protrusion....
Heh, heh!
“Whom the gods would destroy they first make mad”
;^)
To the extent that the GOP ran on a Platform of Nothing, she is not wrong.
I tried to do the same, but about 5 minutes of looking at them was all I could take. It was like watching a boil being lanced.
Mad the exit polls said 60% hate Obama
Same here. I caught Ed Schultz announcing Scott Walker win... priceless!
Really?
Kinduh like making Tapioca and putting the Egg whites in first.
You made some sort of mess but, it’s still not tapioca.
Cool. Too bad about Manchin. I hope the GOP presents him with an offer he can't refuse.
Why, whatever do you mean, Laz?
LOL
Ascerbic and spot on.
