Now That The GOP Has Won, What Does It Stand For?
Radix News ^ | November 5, 2014 | Patrick J. Buchanan

After billions in attack ads that turned the approval ratings of almost every candidate, in both parties, upside down, Republicans have taken control of Congress.

Why did Democrats fall like dominoes?

Easy. Theirs is the Party of Government. And government is failing. And their leader Obama projects diffidence and incompetence.

National surveys also show that large majorities believe America is heading in the wrong direction, that our children will not have it as good as we did, and that the United States is in a long-term decline.

Measuring the performance of Obama against the promise, America is voting for another change in leadership and direction.

But where does she wish to go? And whom does she wish to lead her? The country voted against Obama, but voted for what?

The new majority leader is likely to be Mitch McConnell, who is about as popular as Harry Reid. The Republican Party that will take power is less well-regarded than the Democratic Party losing it.

Nothing but itself, power an control of the funding.

The Leadership likes what Obama is doing and only seeks to manage it 'better'.

I have plans to keep the GOP’s feet to the fire, to affect change, to make a difference, to turn this goldang ship AROUND!

I do believe that you're right. Hopefully, the voters stood for something else, but time will tell.

LOL! There are those of us that have tried that. Cornyn just quit taking calls after a while and voted for his liberal agenda.

Good luck with that. History says it doesn't work, once they have your vote.

If it doesn’t dump Bonehead and McDorkell, it will stand for nothing.

And will become nothing in 2016.

Come on, Repubs, trash the cretins and get on with the war on “progressives”.

Once again, I find myself in agreement with Pat Buchanan.

Time will tell, but I fear that all we have done is transfer the power to the DemocratLite. After all this is more a win for the GOPe than for smaller government and more “power to the people”.

Nothing at all. The only issue the Party ran on was Us&Them.

That's exactly right. If we see bold new GOP leadership, then the country can yet be saved. If we see more of the same old revolving door politicians, well then I guess it will be the dem's turn again in 2016.

I never heard a word all night about IRS and NSA abuses, soaring prices, militarized police, government surveillance and violations of the Constitution. Not a word. Didn’t during the campaign either. So the answer is. not much.

I hope they tell that so-called “independent” from Maine, Angus Whatshisface, to take a flying f*** at a rolling doughnut.

Good luck with that. The new senators and congressmen are as we speak finding out that their rising affluence is assured for the rest of their lives if they toe the Washington Party line even if they lose their re-elections but if they buck that system by maintaining some sort of Principles their wealth will be limited to their salaries and their own investment acumen which will be challenged unceasingly as corruption and unseemly wealth. It is easier to go along and grow rich reliably.
