The jihadist shot one Canadian soldier, but missed a second. That soldier might have stopped the attack there, but did not have any ammunition for his weapon.

Nice rifle, I’d love to find a .357. Lever’s are highly underrated.

Tough $hit for him.

It may be a Henry .22. It looks pretty small.

" relatively slow-firing weapon."

The Rifleman and numerous present day entertainment shooters prove different.

Reloading? kinda slow..

How could he get one? It was illegal. Didn’t he know? He must not have or he wouldn’t have used one to kill people.

A pump can be as fast as a semi-auto but it takes a real expert to do that. I once saw a guy (he was a Texas Ranger) fire a model 870 so fast that it might have been faster than most full autos.

A model 92 or 94 would make a pretty decent rural guerrilla weapon. It is not that fast but can be kept stoked from loose ammo carried in pockets.

Shoot one, load one.

Why is he referred to a “Montreal terrorist”?

I have a model 99 Savage in .300 Savage. It is strong, fast and accurate.

You can tell the writers don’t know much about rifles. The Model 94 kicks up after a shot, so it is hard to keep on target when shooting. Make the first shot count. It is also very good in the brush with a 170 grain bullet.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this terrorist didn’t get ahold if this weapon through Eric Holder Fast and Furious program.

Back during the clintoon “Assault Weapons Ban” I acquired a Marlin 1894 in .44 Magnum that holds 10 rounds in the tubular magazine. It is short, light, accurate, reasonably fast, and quite powerful. IMHO it is one of the best traditional weapons available and the hoplophobes haven’t picked up on it yet because its not black, no pistol grip, no bayonet lug, etc. I keep it loaded with 300gr Hornady XTP’s over a stout charge of H110 powder. Works for me.

This twitter post showed Zehat Bibeau with what appears to be a Winchester lever action rifle... The BBC quickly came up with an identification of the firearm used - a Winchester lever action shotgun!

Oddly enough, there really is a shotgun variant of the Winchester 94. A .410 bore, IIRC. Tough to tell tell the difference from the rifle versions visually - possibly a bead front sight might be the difference.

He said police were trying to piece together how Zehaf-Bibeau acquired a Winchester lever-action shotgun, as he was banned from owning firearms due to his criminal convictions

Yea, that always works!

I’m more interested in the gun that took down this ahem person and how many shots and where since I heard he was wearing armor of some sort.
