Ballistics of the .30-30 are very similar to the Soviet 7.62x39 fired in the SKS and the AK-47

This twitter post showed Zehat Bibeau with what appears to be a Winchester lever action rifle... The BBC quickly came up with an identification of the firearm used - a Winchester lever action shotgun!

Oddly enough, there really is a shotgun variant of the Winchester 94. A .410 bore, IIRC. Tough to tell tell the difference from the rifle versions visually - possibly a bead front sight might be the difference.

You are correct—even the last batch of Model 94s built a few years ago had some in .410 bore.

He said police were trying to piece together how Zehaf-Bibeau acquired a Winchester lever-action shotgun, as he was banned from owning firearms due to his criminal convictions

Yea, that always works!

I am uncertain as to where OttOwa is, but I Do know that the Capital City of Canada is OttAwa. Since our countries are “so small and close together”, could you kindly inform your neighbours of the correct spelling of our Capital city?

We seldom misspell OARshingtunn.

When you practice head shots, body armour is irrelevant...

Also, shooting the meaty bit of the upper leg is pretty effective. Aim for the inner thigh.

I was going to say a hi point 9mm carbine is probably a better killer at short range than a 223.

Nice rifle, I’d love to find a .357. Lever’s are highly underrated.

I have a Rossi lever-action carbine in .357 (and the substitute 38 special). Decent rifle but nothing special - got it so I wouldn't have to add another type ammo to my list as I already had a .357 revolver.

Sadly there are too many variations to commit mayhem from said H-Bar to a couple of gallons of gas and a lighter. Expecting a Beslan or a Mumbai with “zero’s” policies.

You’d be rather wrong.

Any556/223 bullet at close range is going to be rather messy (that is the point of its existence)as it (FMJ or soft) will fragment. While any pistol bullet will be much less so. Dead, however, is dead.

Because he was a terrorist, and Montreal is the location that ties him to the event.

It happened in Ottawa.

Those gun control laws really work well, don’t they?

I have been reading Colin Greenwood’s study of armed crime and firearms control in England and Wales, written in 1972.

He was the first to actually study the issue in any depth.

It was never about crime or safety, though those words were used as excuses.

It has always been about irrational phobias and politicians fears of an armed population.

I’m more interested in the gun that took down this ahem person and how many shots and where since I heard he was wearing armor of some sort.

I thought I was going to lose my cool if I saw 'Lybia' written one more time on this forum.
