My first vanity, but I thought this was funny.
My wife and I went to vote today. While looking at the race for Texas senator... I wanted to send a message. Unlike the other races, this one offered the possibility for a write in vote. Cornball was going to win without my vote, so I proudly wrote in Ted Cruz... It was a spur of the moment idea, but it seemed perfect.
As we walked back to the car, I mentioned to my wife that I had done a write-in vote. Before I could tell her who or what, she remarked... "Me too, I wrote in Ted Cruz for senator".
I know what they are saying about the train but I simply do not trust the Texas legislature to not waste the money as they have so often done in the past. Just too many non-Conservatives moving into Texas and it is just trending too blue.
Who did you support in the primary?
That plan worked really well in Mississippi.
I voted for the Libertarian. Cornyn was complicit in the shenanigans in MS, he gave Cochran thousands of dollars to run ads that called Tea Partiers racist.
A vote for the Democrat would be a vote for Harry Reid. I didn't do that.

Stovall for Senator and whomever was running against George P. Bush for Land Commissioner. IMO, Bush is totally unqualified for the position of Land Commissioner and we definitely do not need any more Bush’s in politics.
So for abortion and gay marriage, you may want to look at their platform sometime if you are opposed to those positions.
Ask TED CRUZ what he thinks of your idiotic vote for the Democrat!!
I understand how you feel but I do not agree with what you did.
I have told John Cornyn face to face why I will not vote for him. I will not vote for a Democrat but I will no longer just pull the R lever. I know many on FR see not voting for a Republican as voting for a Democrat. I don’t. Everyone should have their own opinion. Never really ever bothered me if people don’t agree with me.
I am not a low information voter. I do make it a point to speak personally with as many candidates as I can, particularly local ones, and ask them very pointed questions. Mealy mouthed answers won’t suffice, nor will an answer that sounds as if they will place the interests of conservative Texas citizens first when their voting record screams otherwise.
So disagree with me if you feel you must. I will still respect, understand and value your opinion.
Yeah, the Pubbies are doing a helluva job in reducing abortions and stopping gay marriage. Cornyn did nothing to earn my vote.
Dragging out the old if you don’t support the R candidate, then you are actually supporting the D candidate. I feel guilty that that scare mongering worked on me in the past. Had more of us listened to basic right and wrong back then instead of falling for the fear factor, we wouldn’t be in the state we are in now.
By the way, per the gop-e every election is the most important of our lifetime.
Oh, one more thing, I”m not falling for it ever again. So no, I will not be voting for Cornyn
It is one thing to vote against the Ted Cruz party, but to vote for this agenda is far worse.
These are not areas that they are weak in, these are their formal political goals.
Libertarian Party Platform:
Throw open the borders completely; only a rare individual (terrorist, disease carrier etc.) can be kept from freedom of movement through “political boundaries”.
Homosexuals; total freedom in the military, gay marriage, adoption, child custody and everything else.
Abortion; zero restrictions or impediments, full blown full term “zero restrictions”, for ANY reason.
Pornography; no restraint, no restrictions.
Drugs; Meth, Heroin, Crack, and anything new that science can come up with, zero restrictions.
Advertising those drugs, prostitution, and pornography; zero restrictions.
Military Strength; minimal capabilities.

The train idea that is a candidate for Texas government money isn’t the Dallas-Houston route and it will never be. The one that is is a monorail that is to parallel 35 between Austin and Dallas. The company doing the Dallas to Houston route does not want any government involvement that it can avoid. I personally know some of the people involved in the other one, the monorail from Austin, and yeah, that one wants government money.
Understand that Texas state government has added at least 7200 people to their staff thus far this year, all in Austin. Re the train from Dallas-Houston, I’ll accept your first hand knowledge over what I’ve read and stand corrected. Do not expect Southwest Airlines to go quietly into the night on this one though. Also hope it doesn’t become another Amtrak with limited ridership and huge subsidies.
Nothing about anything involving Austin surprises me any more.
The Dallas-Houston outfit has already said that if they can’t make it work without government subsidy of any kind, they’re not going to do it.
Nobody’s expecting SWA to go down without a fight, but surprisingly SWA doesn’t seem to care all that much so far. They’re just happy the Wright Amendment is gone and they can now fly interstate without an intervening stop.
Keep in mind, though that both the Dallas-Houston and Austin-Dallas proposed lines have an aspect that makes them desirable - both intend to run freight on them, which will take a lot of truck traffic off 45 and 35 (respectively). In turn, that will allow more time for the state to decide what they want to do to fix those two highways, or at least reduce the state’s maintenance costs as it is. The Dallas-Houston one wouldn’t run heavy freight, just USPS/UPS/FedEx/LSO type light freight and packages to pay the bills - IIRC, there was a study that showed that fully 30 percent of truck traffic on 45 belonged to such organizations. If that much truck traffic goes away, it’s a plus for everyone. The Austin-Dallas one (the one that’s seeking government money to provide this benefit) is planning to do piggyback trailers on flatbed cars and containers on cars, very much heavier freight items. That sounds more like a candidate for the next Amtrak candidate to me.
