Joe Biden accidentally touted the low and falling labor participation rate on Twitter by touting the decline in long-term unemployment.
The Vice President tweeted this graph, which he says shows a sharp decline in unemployment thanks to jobs created by the Obama Administration:
Unfortunately for Mr. Biden, this graph looks oddly similar to this graph, which charts the labor participation rate in the United States:
There is a strong correlation between the amount of people who have dropped out of the work force because they have been unemployed for so long and the drop in the unemployment rate.
Further complicating Mr. Biden's graph is the fact that short term unemployment (both 5 weeks or less and 5-14 weeks) have both gone up. By over 100,000. Since December, which is what he touted.
