My Firefox browser will not bookmark Conservative sites
me | 10/17/2014 | Self / Vanity

OK, this is weird.

Starting yesterday, my Firefox browser (was version 32.0) would not make bookmarks to pages on conservative sites.

Free Republic, Hot Air, Lucianne... It worked on non-political sites just fine.

This morning I updated to Version 33.0, and the problem still persists. I checked at Democratic Underground and Daily Kos, and they bookmark normally, but Again/still Free Republic, Hot Air and Lucianne.com will not do bookmarks.

I have no trouble with it.

MY guess is that the default on your Bookmark FOLDER settings is set to UNSORTED BOOKMARKS. That is why when you bring up your bookmarks, you don't see it.

Change the FOLDER setting to BOOKMARKS MENU. Also go into your BOOKMARKS, UNSORTED BOOKMARKS, see if FR is there and delete it. Then try it again.

I hear that Google Chrome now works with Netflix for some reason, so if you have Linux and Netflix, you can use it just for watching the movies.

YES! ;-) Just teasing.

If you have them bookmarked already in Firefox, it’ll ask if you want to edit the bookmark. It won’t let you bookmark it again, it’ll be greyed out.

So there ARE some liberals that could POSSIBLY have access to your machine?

Well, anything is POSSIBLE.
But:

I live alone, have no liberal friends, don't even speak to my liberal relatives, and anyone getting to this computer would have to get through my security system and edit my security videos, so it would have to be a 'professional' to get physical access to it.

And sure, a hacker could get in when I'm online, but that seems a silly game to play.

Then you’re probably encountering a ‘quirk’ of some kind with the browser. Perhaps something you’ve setup, like a folder you’re placing the bookmarks into, and not seeing them right away.

Try going into ‘Organize Bookmarks’ and search for them. They are probably in there somewhere.

He probably bookmarked them but they are in the ‘unsorted’ folder. That’s why he can’t ‘find’ them, and why FF won’t make a new bookmark.

"Go into EDIT BOOKMARKS and see if you can cut and paste the FR URL into a bookmark that already exists, and then save it."

I tried that, thanks... Nope, that doesn't work either. I overwrote A KOS bookmark with the URL to this page, and saved it, then close the window....... But it still takes me back to KOS....

Let me clear my cache...

Nope. That doesn't help.

Oh, and I forgot to mention... for about a week, even before this bookmark problem came up, My History doesn't show any visits to FR, HA or Lucianne either.

No, I have searched through ALL my bookmark folders.

I’m not a newby at this, and nowhere as stupid as I look.

And I’m not duplicating bookmarks either.

It sounds like an immunization tool that is supposed to prevent you from going to known sites for malware and viruses is blocking the conservative sites. Are you using any tools like that? If so, you can whitelist these sites to allow access.

Already done that several times.

My old XP computer running Firefox Version 30.0 works normally, so this is a new development, with the newer versions of Firefox, or with Windows 8.1

Not having any problems accessing them, just bookmarking, and having them appear in my history.

Most political messages to me are directed to my spam folder.

Once you’re on one list, EVERYBODY buys rights to it, and every campaign in the nation sends you requests for contributions.

I stopped counting the requests from “Mitt Romney” after 15 last week. . .

Is your beeber set to 'stune'?

Sorry, just can't believe this thread ran as long as it has without some FR oldies but goodies.

It's working fine for me.

Go to Help, then to Trouble shooting Information, then click reset Firefox. That should clear it.

Oh and use some of these Add Ons to help keep your browser clean.

https://blog.mozilla.org/theden/2013/12/04/13-best-firefox-add-ons-of-2013/

The only one that is missing, IMO, is Adblock Plus. I use that and many of the 13 best Firefox add ons.
