Here's an absolutely fascinating, and actually, quite possible scenario, that could well play out on Election Day. Let's assume that the GOP flips FIVE Democrat seats, while holding onto Kentucky and Kansas (as seems more likely in recent days). Nobody hits 50% in Georgia and Louisiana, so we head to run-offs there, with control of the Senate at stake..Republicans needing to win one of them....EXCEPT that....
Which ones of the Republicans running for Senate really don’t want to win?
“I wouldnt count on Kentucky. Conservatives have really gotten the message out that McConnell is a dangerous creep, and a freshman Democrat would be a lot less harmful to the nation. If there is one seat worth ceding, it is his.”
Those people are no more “conservative” that McConnell.
Anyone that says that a Democrat is less dangerous is nothing less than a Democrat themselves. They had their chance to remove Mitch and they were too busy shooting off their mouths to do an effective job at that.
They could still lose Mississippi in a low turnout, backlash vote.
Give Ebola, EV68, open border and the economy more in your face headlines and there won’t be a question LA and GA goes solidly GOP.
Democrats are resorting to trolling social media to depress the votes. (purist and red herring threads on FR for example)
Democrats are pushing third party and dead end spoilers to steal a few votes here or there.
We have useful idiots who confuse losing a battle with winning and entire war.
This makes me wonder when ABC’s Resurrection show will deal with the issue of the dead people wanting to vote.
Let’s call it the Super Bowl of Voter Fraud
Getting rid of McConnell is almost worth losing the senate for two more years. You worry about short term expediency, my concern is the McConnell may destroy the United States.
Which is a bit more important.
McConnell has sworn to destroy the Tea Party, and entrench Republican liberals in the leadership. With his help, the only candidates Republicans will be allowed to vote for in the next election will be Jeb Bush or Mitt Romney. And he will work hard to stage manage the RNC to keep conservatives out of power, even strip them of their votes.
As I’ve said, McConnell has already told the Democrats that when he is elected again and is majority leader, he will give them the tools to prevent *any* conservative or even Republican agenda passing the senate. And he will keep it this way throughout the entire first term of the next president. So even if we elected Ted Cruz, McConnell would block his agenda.
The election of McConnell will guarantee that American will soon have “single payer” health care, that is, socialized medicine, even worse than Obamacare, that McConnell will fix in concrete.
McConnell will insure that the borders remain wide open to illegal aliens of all kinds, which is what his Chamber of Commerce masters want. Which will mean millions more Democrats in the future. As well as terrorists and Ebola.
THANKS, MITCH.
So, tell me again how bad Grimes is. And how important it is to reelect that metastatic cancer that is Mitch McConnell.
The point is not that Grimes is better than McConnell, but that she would be powerless, while McConnell is holding a knife to America’s throat, threatening to slash it unless we do what the Democrats want.
You want Obamacare, then “single payer” socialized medicine? Then vote for McConnell.
You want open borders? Then vote for McConnell.
You want Jeb Bush or Mitt Romney as our only choices against Hillary? Then vote for McConnell.
McConnell offers us the entire Democrat platform: gay marriage, two more liberal Supreme Court justices, and lots of other liberal judge appointments, more out of control federal spending and regulations and bureaucrats running wild with no effort to stop them.
I would vote for Bill Ayers for that seat instead of McConnell, because Ayers couldn’t do as much harm.
We are going to take more than 6 Senate seats on election day!
Even though I’m puzzled about why you mention abortion in this thread, the original action, of Roe v. Wade, was the federal government forcing states to accept abortion, even where it was uncommon and unwanted.
The problem of doing it this way was later seen at the thrashing effort the Supreme Court tried to create federal rules against pornography. After several failed attempts, they created the idea that “community standards” should determine obscenity.
By returning it to local control, most people were satisfied, because they understood that the community standards of NYC are not the same as they are in Peoria.
The end result of federal overreach with Roe v. Wade was that the states whittled away at it until they achieved something more harmonious with their standards. In many cases this means effectively a ban, but because a pregnant woman can legally travel, if she is determined enough, she can go to a state that permits abortion.
If the GOP wins exactly 50 seats, watch for Angus King of Maine to emerge and try to cut a deal with the GOP where he would emerge as the leader of the Senate.
I believe the polls are being sauced to keep R voters afraid to Ditch Mitch, courtesy the Chamber of Commerce.
TEA has its communications together now, see Brat v. Cantor.
I think we’re in the clear enough to push Mitch out the window, and still take the Senate.
Kentuckians, leave the box for Mitch empty while you click on the other candidates. If you do this, Ted Cruz will take our Senate.
If Ted Cruz is running for President (and he is), the last thing he wants to be is Senate Majority Leader.
The ideal Majority Leader -- with or without Cruz, with or without McConnell -- would be Jeff Sessions.
Hear Hear! A McConnell win in this election would be a disaster for conservatives. He’s made it clear that he will not stand in the way of the Democrat agenda, but will spend huge amounts of money to defeat conservatives. He will also be a big force in the GOP-e keeping conservatives out of the next RNC, and forcing either Jeb Bush or Mitt Romney on us again.
And if he wins and through some miracle conservatives get a conservative POTUS candidate, and he wins, McConnell will still be able to block conservative legislation for his entire first term.
The man is a menace. And he hurts conservatism and the United States almost as badly as Obama does.
