Newly released images created from NASA satellite data illustrate the staggering effect the California drought has had on groundwater supply in the state. As Mashable's Patrick Kulp explains, the images show the amount of water lost over the past 12 years, with different colors indicating severity over time. “Nobody has any idea how disastrous it’s going to be,” Mike Wade of California Farm Water Coalition told the Associated Press, as RT reports a growing number of communities in central and northern California could end up without water in 60 days due to the Golden state’s prolonged drought. While California is bearing the brunt, experts note "We're seeing it happening all over the world, in most of the major aquifers in the arid and semi-arid parts of the world."

California is currently experiencing the third year of one of the most severe short term droughts ever recorded. Data from U.S. Drought Monitor shows that as of Sept. 30, 82% of the state is facing extreme or exceptional drought conditions.

Ship all the illegals back and boot out all the visa overstayers. Less pull on the water supply.

I wonder what would happen to California’s near open-border policy if there was suddenly no water for everyone?

California knew this was coming.

Could have put desal plants in long ago.

Population explosion did not help. either.

It would to be too much to hope that a significant fraction of the population moves back to Mexico.

I’d think we’d see a lot of self-deportation and unfortunately a ton of these people will travel to the Pacific Northwest.....screaming “feed me...feed me”.

UGH!

Brown continues to pursue a 58 billion train when that money could easily be used for desalinization or other water storage, conservation and transportation projects.

And he’s the same idiot who wants the entire Mexican population to “move to” California (the euphemism for illegal immigration).

But of course the “Republicans” in California nominate Neel Nobody because he’s got brown skin and brown eyes, so they can claim they’re diverse!

He of course will go down with the honor of being the gubernatorial candidate defeated by the widest margin in California history.

Wow, you mean allowing millions of illegal immigrants to cram into Southern California wasn't a good idea?  You mean increased need for fresh water wasn't what the state needed?

You mean refusal to develop desalinization that could supply one third to one half of Southern California's water needs by now, was something that should have been implemented?

You mean draining Central and Northern California's water resources wasn't going to remain viable?

Wow!  Who knew?

This would be comical, if it wasn't so serious.

Well, the Democrats ran the state, just like they wanted.  Now here we are.  Some day you would think the citizens of the state would wake up and smell the rotting corpse that used to be the Golden State.

And the lib environmentalists also get to keep their precious Delta Smelt instead of directing the water to needed farms.

Supposedly, the environmentalists closed off water supply to one of the growing regions of California to save some fish or other from extinction, resulting in millions of gallons of water running off into the ocean. (?)

IMHO

Comrades! All Californos must sacrifice for the greater good. Water and Malibu beach access is fine and good.
But let us not bicker and argue about comrades who are somewhat more equal than others.

Who says that Americans need to consume less to stave off ecological disaster, but spends $22,000 a year to water their lawn?

a. Hillary Clinton
b. Barbra Streisand
c. Rob Reiner

Answer: B. Barbra Streisand. The singer, who says that cutting back is the only way to protect the environment, lives alone with her husband on a compound with five homes and a 12,000 square foot air conditioned barn.
