Q&A: Will Ebola virus spread in Dallas? Not likely, expert says
The Dallas Morning News ^ | October 4, 2014 | Dr. Seema Yasmin

Public health and medical experts answered our questions about what’s likely to happen next with the Ebola virus in the U.S.

How likely is it that the virus will spread widely in Dallas, given what we know now?

The magnitude and duration of the epidemic in West Africa — as well as its rapid spread to large cities with international airports — had many experts saying the arrival of Ebola in the U.S. was inevitable.

Gerardo Chowell, associate professor at Arizona State University, uses complex mathematical models to predict how diseases spread and where they could arise.

Chowell’s work on Ebola has focused on West Africa. But when an Ebola patient arrived in Dallas, he adapted his model to look at how the disease could spread here.

He said that the spread of Ebola in Dallas is very unlikely. That’s mostly because of a robust public health system that was quickly alerted and quickly began to trace the patient’s contacts.

“We have a public health system that has the training and the capacity to trace all of the people that the case patient had contact with while infectious,” he said....

The game of Ebola Roulette continues...

*click* spin *click* spin *click* spin…BANG!

Eeeee-bolllll-aaaaaa ping!

Bring Out Your Dead

We’re gonna need

a bigger cart!

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Statistics do not apply to n=1.

And, the system has already failed.

Yeah, and "Experts" say that man-made globalwarming is going to kill us all, and make unicorns and sock puppets extinct.

Whatever...

0bama said that if an ebola patient came to America, we would have nothing to worry about, and he has never lied to us before, right?

Well well, so the real reason we’re not banning entry to people from the Ebola countries emerges at last …

This calls into question every statement recently made by the CDC Director.

"He said that the spread of Ebola in Dallas is very unlikely"

He's underestimating the obama administration.

Apparently, he adapted his Climate Change model to predict the spread of Obola in the States...Apparently, the quantifier, “Because Obola said so”, is proof that there is not a smidgen of Obola in America...

This will work initially. But as long as there is a huge wildfire blazing in Africa there will be more and more sparks arriving all over the world. it’s only a matter of time until a fire starts somewhere else.

Comrade Professor Gerardo Lysenko?
Why, Comrade Obama can lower the Earth’s temperature and ocean levels!
He’s just been busy, you see—golf days are winding down.
Our robust public health system will track down everyone who has come in contact with these countless, unknown diseased carriers of death.
Our public workers have had considerable experience trying to locate 30 million Latin-speaking uninvited but honored guests, and statistically they are due—overdue, actually—to find someone, maybe even one of hundreds of Ebola virus vectors walking our streets like they own the damned place.

“A robust public health system that was quickly alerted...”
________________________________________________________

Who are they kidding? The patient told the doctors that he was from Liberia....didn’t they initially send him home, before he returned to the hospital on his own?

Weren’t his relatives in the apartment, unsupervised, for days?

Wasn’t clothing, bedding, and other items disposed of in a hap-hazard manner?

Wasn’t his vomit washed down the storm drains with a hose?

In light of their initial response to this patient, the experts all remind me of Baghdad Bob.

Anyone think the Ebola disease coming here is to ensure everyone is on Obamacare? The “experts” keep focusing on the idea Ebola will have a hard time spreading is because of advanced medical treatment, but what about healthy people now that do not want to be subjected to the disease and have to even visit a hospital or Dr.? Simply put, I have no need or want for visiting Dr.s now but with Ebola in the equation, I may HAVE to. Obamacare comes in when a person that never needs to visit a Dr. suddenly needs treatment for a disease they cannot avoid.

Over the next year, there will be more people in Dallas killed by lightening than Ebola.
