Yes, almost all our city’s patrol cars have been replaced with Tahoes.

Yeah, I get that, but I drive little else..

I understand them, but I like the older ones..and the big ones..

I drive nothing but 350CID engines...I run them for 200K and rebuild them and the transmission. Run them again..

I have a 99 Yukon I picked up with low miles a few years ago, It will be hitting 200k by next year. trying to decide if I should go to a Cummins diesel and buy a 2500GMC next go around..

I might consider one, but it frankly would be wasted where I live. Sold my WRX which was alrrady too much car for the low speed limits and sluggish drivers in Hawaii.

I drive a 4WD 4Runner now, and frankly find it more pleasant in these conditions, plus I can take it off onto a lava road without too much trepidation.

Pavement only cars hold little interest in my environment. I do get a kick out of the Mercedes and BMW drivers tiptoeing around all the pickups that are the norm here.

It is a drastically reduced pension from an insurance pool and minimum reserves that the pension fund must maintain as I understand it.

My last three vehicles have been Korean. Much better than the crap being pushed by GM these days.

If I could kill this old diesel Mercedes, I’d look at Hyundai.

Barrett has a .50 caliber solution to your problem.

I don't know about today's Cummins, but 15 years ago, Cummins supported "gun control". :(

I know four guys whose Cummins diesels burned up owning to injector problems.

Two were under 250K, two were newer than that.

You probably know more than I but I wouldn’t touch ‘em at present.

I always liked them because when they were running well, you could not find anything better.

But that was in the early 80s...

And yes,,,,injectors could be a problem with any diesel, but I never saw one burn up...saw them wear out..saw cooling system failures..and overheating..

I’d say about 85% of issues with diesels are fuel related..

If you run one...you have to be a babysitter with your fuel. and filters.. if you do, they pay you back.

I also have a few acquaintances who run the Dodge’s...but before I make a decision, I will do the research.. I am not a Ford fan...just one of those things..

Yeah....Cummins is in 90 countries...and heavy in Europe where being anti-control would kill your business..

I don’t know what they are doing today...I have seen gun manufacturers support gun control...lol

It’s bizarre world...

But when I get to doing my do diligence, I will look into that. I do not currently do any business with Progressive...for political reasons.(just one example)..It would be sad if I had to add too many more companies to that list, but I would if I needed to.

Yes they didn’t “burn” up that was poor choice of words on my part...either scored or melted pistons was my understanding.

I wasn’t riding with the guys but two of them were in one family and they’ve been running, like you, Dodge diesels since the 80s. The old boy lost a couple pistons and his son’s engine was completely shot.

Old boy got his repaired, I think, and the son got undamaged trade value on his for a gasoline model. Old boy was nearly tearful he was such a Cummins loyalist.
