OH:Six Shots, Six Misses at Robber? or Not?
Gun Watch ^ | 21 September, | Dean Weingarten

In close range gunfights with handguns, it is not uncommon for both participants to fire several shots without anyone being hit.   In this article From wcpo.com, it is written that no injuries were reported:

Police say the suspect pulled out a gun and demanded the victim's wallet.
Once the wallet was turned over, the victim pulled out his own gun and both men pointed the firearms at each other.

Officials say the victim fired about six shots after the suspect refused to put his gun down.

(snip)

No injuries were reported and no arrests made.
In the video for the story, however, it is mentioned that two people showed up at area hospitals with gunshot wounds.    The assailant who was shot  at, was driven from the scene by a person most assume was a confederate.   If the 60-year-old victim shot at his assailant near the getaway vehicle, then it would make sense for two people to be wounded.  The attack occurred about midnight.

The investigation continues.

There have been numerous cases, where both participants, armed with revolvers, have emptied their guns at a range of feet, with all shots missing their intended targets.

Jules: This was Divine Intervention! You know what “divine intervention” is?
Vincent: Yeah, I think so. That means God came down from Heaven and stopped the bullets.
Jules: Yeah, man, that’s what it means. That’s exactly what it means! God came down from Heaven and stopped the bullets.
Vincent: I think we should be going now.
Jules: Don’t do that! Don’t you * do that! Don’t blow this * off! What just happened was a * miracle!
Vincent: Chill the * out, Jules, this * happens.
Jules: Wrong! Wrong, this * doesn’t just happen.
Vincent: Do you wanna continue this theological discussion in the car, or at the jailhouse with the cops?
Jules: We should be * dead now, my friend! We just witnessed a miracle, and I want you to * acknowledge it!
Vincent: Okay man, it was a miracle, can we leave now?

My nephew used to watch "The A-Team", every episode ended with about a one minute furious exchange of automatic weapons fire at ridiculously close range, with no discernible effect, after which the bad guys would inexplicably throw down their weapons and declare, "No mas!"

I know better. With practice, in a gunfight, you can shoot the guns out of six or eight people’s hands before they can get even one shot off. No misses. I saw it on Blazing Saddles, so it must be true.

What year was this article written?

The A-Team followed Dukes of Hazard for a while when I was a kid. I could watch incredible high speed crashes and close combat war with advanced automatic weaponry for two straight hours and nobody got hurt.

Clearly better gun control is in order. The VICTIM should be sentenced to twenty sessions at the range.

"reminds me of Get smart episode-..."

"Missed me by 'that' much!"
I've got the 1st two seasons on DVD - Mel Brooks and Buck Henry - pure genius.

That was my major pet peeve on that show. These guys were supposed to be elite troops lol. They could make that sniper shot with a pistol though and knock out an insulator on a power pole.

Yep. I once witnessed the other extreme as a juror in a murder trial. It was a New Orleans crack house shootout (definitely close quarters) where the deceased and the man on trial shot each other five times with .38 revolvers - and both were trying to reload when they collapsed. One died, we sent the other to Angola.

Seeing those forensic photos made me go buy a .45.

Six Shots?

Due to the increased cost of ammo, there will be no warning shots.

**the victim pulled out his own gun and both men pointed the firearms at each other.**

I see this a lot in modern movies and TV shows. Two people pull guns and hesitate, as if waiting till the other person pulls the trigger or not. If you realize he IS pulling the trigger can you are dead.

"Clearly better gun control is in order."

Better gun control means two hands on the weapon.

Of course it is. Barnaby Jones got the bad guy that way, every week, for seven years ! ;)

"How could you miss?"

"He moved."

"Shut up! Go and practice!"
