I’m 60 and I know that living in southern Arizona is a death sentence for my wife and myself when the SHTF. We plan on traveling the next few years and enjoying what time we have left on this earth. Should the SHTF in my lifetime, all I can hope for is to take out as many attackers as I can, but I know there is no realistic expectation of surviving very long.
“The first casualty of battle is the plan” is the version I am most familiar with; I use it at least once a week. It is a good thing, train your military leaders (or yourself, in this context) to expect the unexpected, and to become comfortable operating at high optempo in an environment with high uncertainty.
I wish...we are way up in Minnesota. We have a small lake/pond at the edge of our property and every year we have more and more turtles around, mostly snapping turtles. It’s as if our yard and garden are their nesting grounds.
That's easy. Just move to Detroit or any other city under liberal control for a couple generations.
Thanks for the words of wisdom, hadn’t looked at it that way before. Maybe because the Prov 31 woman makes me feel woefully inadequate.
Minnesota!!!? Oh no. No cold climates for me ever again. I enjoyed the beauty of northern Norway back in 1987 but the frostbite I came away with turn me off to the cold. I don’t believe I’ve ever felt worse pain in my life.
Give me the tropics any day and twice on Sunday!
But I have heard that turtle eggs are delicious....
A bigger story is Joseph and the 7 year famine. The Lord will provide all that you need for salvation but you need to do your own washing and cooking!
I am 52 and 70 pounds overweight and I am the one in best shape in my family. My wife is older and has diabetes and her sister is mental handicapped.
I live in the hood and I simply prepare as best I can. Bugging out is NOT a good idea as I have no where to go.
I have prepared more than most but any prolonged attack will be the end.
Really. I learned to build a fire when I was 5 years old in about 10 minutes, and I've been building them ever since with no problem. Unless his wood was all wet, I don't see how it could take a month to figure out.
I intend to eat University Professors.
“He feels my desire to prepare for a crisis is a lack of faith in God as our provider.”
Reminds me of an old joke...
This guy is standing on standing on his front porch in a storm, looking at the ground covered with a few inches of water, when the Sheriff comes by in an SUV.
“It looks like it’s going to flood here”, the sheriff tells him. “You better head to higher ground.”
“Nope”, the guy says. “I’m going to stay here, pray, and put my faith in the lord.”
A while later the water is 4 feet deep, and a deputy comes by in a boat. “The levy is breaking. You need to come with us now.”
“Nope, I’m staying here. I have faith the Lord will help.”
The deputy says, “Well I’ve got other people to pick up. I’ll come back if I can.”
A few hours later the water is 10’ deep, and they guy is on his roof. A helicopter comes by, and lowers a ladder.
“I’m not going!”, the guy says. “I have faith the lord will save me!”
A while later a huge wall of water sweeps in and drowns the guy. When he gets to heaven, he asks St. Peter, “I’ve been faithful all my life. Why didn’t the lord save me?”
St. Peter says, “He sent you an SUV, a boat and a helicopter. What more do you want?”
>>I have put on 30 pounds in the last year <<
Give up eating bread and you’ll find it easier to lose weight.
Funny.... My mom always told me that God helps those who help themselves.
Put the turtle meat in a large saucepan with 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon cayenne and the water. Bring to a boil. Skim off any foam that rises to the top. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 20 minutes. With a slotted spoon transfer the meat to a platter. Cut the meat into 1/2 inch dice and reserve the liquid. In another large sauce pan, combine the butter and flour over medium heat, stirring constantly for 6 to 8 minutes to make a dark roux. Add the onions, shallots, bell peppers and celery. Stir occasionally and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender. Add the bay leaves, thyme and garlic, cook for 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes and the turtle meat. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes stirring occasionally. Add the Worcestershire sauce, the remaining salt and cayenne, the turtle stock (about 6 cups) lemon juice, and sherry. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the parsley, green onions, and eggs and simmer for 45 minutes. Garnish with green onions and chopped eggs.
Thanks for posting the recipe! Would you mind telling her how to catch and field dress snappers? Someone told me how to do it but I’ve never actually tried it. I need to learn how to trap, field dress and prepare an armadillo. An old buddy from Trinidad assured me that, properly prepared, they are indeed delicious.
Look on YouTube.com for cleaning turtles. There’s a dozen different ones. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTgMn0s8090 & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6HheaLto38 are two good ones.
Thank you!
Your Husband evidently hasn’t studied the story of Joseph enough. He prepared for 7 years of famine in a practical way. All that stored grain didn’t just save itself and jump into the Egyptian storehouses.
Unless his name is Elijah and he is getting fed by a raven everyday.
