One organization is working to not only honor the achievements and legacy of the late Michael Brown, but to also help his younger siblings achieve what he didn't have the chance to.
Brown, the unarmed black teen who was shot and killed by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, earlier this month, was a recent high school graduate. He was scheduled to start classes at Vatterott College on Aug. 11, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, but was killed two days prior. The Wisconsin Hope Lab -- a program that researches ways to minimize barriers for students of all backgrounds to attain a post-secondary education -- is working in conjunction with the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County to create the "Mike Brown College Scholarship," which will help Brown's three siblings attend college.
"Mike's mom deserves to see her other children cross the finish line and receive their diplomas -- I want to support her doing that," Sara Goldrick-Rab, Wisconsin Hope Lab director, told WISC-TV....

Her children will end up at Thug University, like her son.
Those degrees in African-American studies will really come in handy.
A masters program in wealth redistribution?
I’ve come to the conclusion that liberals have finally driven blacks completely and utter insane.
Typical black. Honoring a punk. What in the hell is happening to the black culture?
WOw I’m surprised Freep allowed a link to Huffington, usually they don’t, at least when I tried. How do you like the comments below the article, usually it’s all libs. Even they are mocking this. Could they finally be waking up? Nah. They’ll forget and go right back to their natural state of insanity.
attacking people and stealing their stuff is like shopping at Walmart
Might as well just give the money to the colleges now as a donation. Brought up in a household like that they’ll never graduate from college.
Harsh? Yeah, maybe, but why doesn’t college money go to kids from families working hard and following the rules? Oh no... They can say they got a scholarship because their brother robbed a grocery store and beat a police officer.
It changed a few months ago, I have no idea why, but I started noticing it. Once in awhile they have an interesting article, just like other lefty outfits.
For crying out loud!
Siblings without parents fund.
Outstanding!
A little off topic, but I chuckle every time I hear Rush very casually but consistently refer to him as “gentle giant”. So funny, yet clever.
Rachel Jeantel had about 30 “mentors” that somehow pushed her through high school. Now she has a full-ride scholarship to college, as well.
I wonder what that costs.
Enough already. I’m so sick of people glorifying this guy. He was a prison sentence waiting to happen and now they have scholarships in his honor. Didn’t know being a thief, roughing up a store clerk, and threatening a police officer could bring such a distinct honor as a memorial scholarship. In a sane world he should be made an example of what black people need to turn away from to be a success. Now this glorification of Michael Brown just continues to send the wrong message to young black people. Rather than face their problems as a people, blacks are just denying the obvious and finding another scapegoat.
