And I was there for the both of them as they took their last breath of life here on this earth.
Perhaps God planned it that way.
Perhaps it's a honor for God to allow you be there for them.
I was at the hospice where my mom stayed at the last 5 days of her life, but the way things worked out the nurse told us that she was ready to die soon so I told my brother to go get my other brother and step father and bring them there to be there for when she dies.
I told my mom to hang in there for they were on their way.... but it was not so.
Even the nurse stepped out of the room, I was the only person in this world to be with my mom when she died.
I could hear he whisper to me " I tried " or " I'm tired " right before she died.
When the doctor told the whole family that the arteries to her colon were blocked I think my mom knew it was the end.
She had a heart attack about 2 weeks earlier, and her kidneys stopped functioning.
But the arteriosclerosis of her main arteries of her colon is what finally did her in for at least a year before she died she had problems with her bowl movement, near the endf she could not hold her bowl movement.
I have a feeling that even if they tried to operate on her colon they would have had to cut a lot of it out for I believe some of her colon was already dying or dead and rotting in her body a few days before she died.
She would not have had no quality of life if she had to have most of her colon removed.
The day we got the bad news about a week before she died the doctor told us her body would not handle another round of dialysis.

So sorry. Every time I lose a dog I cry my eyes out. Then I get another because I can't live without one. Just gave my 120lb. wiggly puppy a big hug.

Hurts like hell, but she’ll be waiting for you.
They’re a gift from Heaven to us.

I don’t believe in karma. But if I’m wrong, then you’ve really screwed yourself with that post.

Ive lost so many in my lifetime. Its never easy.
I worked with a guy a few years ago, who's dog died.
He said, Occam (that's not my name, but that's what he said), "Life is but a series of dogs."
I thought that was very prophetic.

So sorry you had to say goodbye to your old friend.
We had to put our old Red & White Irish Setter to sleep last year.
I don’t get the lump in my throat anymore when I think of my Ruby. Small things bring fond memories to me though. Cooking pasta or chicken (her favorites) , hearing fireworks (which she was terrified of).
I don’t think dogs ever really leave you, you just can’t see them anymore.

God bless you. I have a cocketiel bird named Sydney. Picked the name cause I didn’t know for sure if it was a boy or girl. I love him (going on 20 years) and I know bonds grow even stronger with a dog. I bet you gave him a great life and have many wonderful memories. I’ll be praying for you.

A good life is a series of dogs. I like it.

Your dog was no doubt disappointed in your spelling. Its Sydney with TWO ys.
ROFL, perhaps, but every time I asked her, she said, no, that's how it's spelled. Women!

Prayers. And more for a neighbor who I don’t really know, but met on the sidewalk during a walk last night. He was walking his ailing dog and told me all about her. Pets are one of God’s greatest gifts and losing one is hard. You are not alone.

Oh I know how painful this is. I had an Australian shepherd named Valentine and how I loved her! I think she was something of a genius and so loyal! I dreamed something happened to her and sure enough it did. Gone too soon.
Later I had a standard poodle named Jazz - my partner...I would have done anything for her to stay. She made it to 15 but it wasn’t long enough of course.
Now I have Paris, another standard poodle - doesn’t take the place of the others but she makes her own place in my heart.

I don’t understand what kind of motive you had for posting what you did, but it wasn’t funny - it was heartless & rude. Truly, you ought to apologize.

Prayers for your neighbor and neighbors dog too! I love how this works.

My condolences. I have had to do the same before and will likely have to go through it again. I still love the ones that have passed and I will always miss them.

Also, a few years ago, at the vets, the had a bowl of treats. I took one and gave it to her. The tech said, “Those are cats treats”, I said, “SYDNEY doesn’t care!”
