I’ve been told by a black friend that I, as a white person, can’t know the fear that permeates the mind of a black man when they are stopped by a cop, knowing that they can be harassed, arrested or killed simply for the crime of being black. That’s true. I can’t.
The truth is, it does happen that innocent black men are sometimes harassed, arrested and even killed by white cops. According to USA today, there were an average of 96 instances of white cops killing black men per year between 2005 & 2012. Author Jim Fisher states that 95% of all officer involved shootings are labeled “Justifiable Homicide” as when the victim had a gun, knife or some other weapon. Fisher believes that number is artificially high. Let’s assume that instead of 95% of those cases being justified, only 75% are and lets apply that to the USA Today stats. That would mean that there are 24 black men unjustly killed by police each year. That number is no doubt inflated, but let’s use it for discussion purposes.
Let’s put that number in perspective. In 2011, according to the FBI, approximately 2,200 black men were murdered in the United States by other black men. If you take that number and compare it to the inflated number from above, 24, the ratio of black men killed by other black men vs. black men killed by white cops would be approximately 95 to 1. That means for every black man murdered by the police, another 95 are murdered by other black men.
But we don’t see 95 Ferguson, Missouris burning around the country, do we? No. Indeed, the reason why Ferguson is so newsworthy is that it is an example of a Man bites Dog story rather than Dog bites Man.
Now, as another friend mentioned, getting shot by the police is not the same as getting shot by a guy in your neighborhood:
You can't compare the two! If you run into trouble with anyone else, you can fight, you can run, you can pull out a gun and defend yourself, your friends can help you.... when you are facing a cop, you can't do any of those things. Almost anything you do or say can be justification for them to use extreme force against you.
Most of that may indeed be true, but unlike the guy trying to take your lunch money or worse, cops are in the business of trying to protect people and the community. Every society needs a police force. In addition, there are community boards, inspectors general, internal affairs divisions – and sometimes even the US Justice Department – that look into every police shooting in this country. And beyond the institutional checks in place there are ubiquitous camera phone videos as well as plaintiff’s attorneys who represent the families of the dead.
As a result of all of this, cops often find themselves under a microscope like no other time in American history. But the truth is, none of what cops do is done in a vacuum, and what is seen on tape is often the final throes of a situation that has been playing out (and maybe escalating) over many seconds or minutes or even hours – The Rodney King video being a perfect example. Cops often are called upon to make life or death decisions in the blink of an eye. Every time they stop a car for a burnt tail light or are called to a domestic disturbance or see someone who seems to be acting strangely, they don’t know for sure what the outcome is going to be. But that’s their job.

And black people don’t know the fear whites feel at the sight of any black man
Been stopped many a time by cops (all colors)...and treated like a druggy, thief and a 5 year old (not every stop). Doesn’t mean I go rob and loot and feel I’m living in a camp.
Which race commits the most crime in this country? When a cop faces a black what percent of the time is a black a criminal? Even a dangerous felon? Blacks complaints are becoming tiresome to this individual, they are the criminals, the single Mom, diseased, riotous, looters, taxpayer supported etc. Their faults are caused by more than the environment.
Unfortunately, this does not take into account the zeitgeist of what I have dubbed "the Era of Bad Stewards". Usually I use the term to decry the decayed moral state of those with fiduciary responsibility for the goods and moneys of other who behave as if their fiduciary position exists for their own enrichment, rather than the benefit of those whose goods or moneys they manage. In the case of the police, however, the same phenomenon exists in the use of force. A dismaying large proportion of police now protect principally themselves and their authority (real or purported) as law enforcement officers, rather than the citizenry, and are more self-serving than serving.
I don’t care. I and 50% of the other white women I know have been the victims of crime by black men. We’re not even allowed to talk about it, for fear we’ll insult the vanity of black people. I don’t want anyone — black or white — to be victimized by the police, but as long as there’s a process in place to investigate, I won’t give these stories a second thought. Let the chips fall where they may, and let black people stop whining.

Very many dog-shootings and mistaken SWAT raids ago, the Ferguson cops would have been up to their eyeballs in middle-class support.
Now? Nah.
The ghetto/SWAT stand-off is COMEUPPANCE —for BOTH sides.
I hope they really, really tire one another out, big-time.
There's a reason many Russian private cars are equipped with dash cams.
Maybe the cops need to have quick acting tranquilizer darts until phasers are perfected.

The fact is, IMHO, there is a problem with cops these days. It’s not race related though...
My last stop was in rural, central Iowa and I was treated well.

What about interracial crime, white-on-black attacks and the reverse?
After researching the FBI numbers for "Suicide of a Superpower," this writer concluded: "An analysis of 'single offender victimization figures' from the FBI for 2007 finds blacks committed 433,934 crimes against whites, eight times the 55,685 whites committed against blacks. Interracial rape is almost exclusively black on white -- with 14,000 assaults on white women by African Americans in 2007. Not one case of a white sexual assault on a black female was found in the FBI study."
Though blacks are outnumbered 5-to-1 in the population by whites, they commit eight times as many crimes against whites as the reverse. By those 2007 numbers, a black male was 40 times as likely to assault a white person as the reverse.
If interracial crime is the ugliest manifestation of racism, what does this tell us about where racism really resides -- in America?
And if the FBI stats for 2007 represent an average year since the Tawana Brawley rape-hoax of 1987, over one-third of a million white women have been sexually assaulted by black males since 1987 -- with no visible protest from the civil rights leadership.
Try getting stopped by the police in China if you are a tourist, or non party member, or don’t look Asian.
Of course, these figures don’t include some other deaths by cop.
A co-worker of mine, a sweet 60-something bookeeper nmed Carole, was a passenger in a car going through a green light at an intersection on a straight rural road in Winnebago, IL AT 3pm. A policeman hit her car at 100mph running the red light with no lights or siren on. Carol died a few weeks later, never gaining consciousness. The driver lost her baby. The police claimed NO responsibility. In this case all were white. It was never revealed to my knowledge where the policeman had to go at 100mph at 3pm in the sticks.
The fear of a black man when confronted by lawenforcement only comes when he knows he has broken the law.
Now find the racial statistics for percentage on welfare(tax burden), venereal disease, unmarried mothers, school drop outs, and any other vice one can think up. I’m sick of pretending that pathetic race produces all victims. That group is living proof that propaganda works.
