McDonald's is coming under intensifying pressure for labor practices at its U.S. restaurants. The National Labor Relations Board said Tuesday that the world's biggest hamburger chain could be named as a joint employer in several complaints regarding worker rights at franchise-owned restaurants. The decision is pivotal because it could expose McDonald's Corp. to liability for management practices in those locations.
It also comes as protests for higher pay have captured national attention, with labor groups calling for pay of $15 an hour and the right to unionize. Organizers had been pushing to get McDonald's named as a joint employer at franchised restaurants, a move intended to give them a centralized and powerful target.
In the U.S., the vast majority of McDonald's more than 14,000 restaurants are owned and operated by franchisees.....

Extortion has become national policy.
If the NLRB wins this case, that means the end of privately owned franchises in any business in America.

I hope the LIVs are enjoying it.
If I had been considering investing in a fast food franchise, I would have dropped the notion months ago. Employees would either be resentful and disgruntled because I was cheating them out of their $15 or I would be forced to pay them $15. No way, no how.
If somebody wants to make $15/hour, let them do something worth $15/hour. Until then they should be thankful for the work they have.

The more modern systems will even simulate spit on your fries or taking a bite out of your hamburger before serving it to you!
There will even be robot cleaners. Robot floor cleaners are already available.
I could see fast food become drive-through only. Have a touch screen to place your order, swipe your card to pay for it, and it will be ready at the pick up window.
When it does get like that, I won’t buy until I can afford a robot that can travel on it’s own and make purchases for me.
Just like how the UAW unionizes workers across car makers, and SEIU unionizes workers across hotel chains, now they want to unionize workers across McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, etc.

We have been eating from home ever since early 2009. McDonalds has already become one of those luxuries we don't afford.
