If GOP takes the Senate, what happens?
Dan Miller's Blog ^ | May 16, 2014 | Dan Miller

The Trifecta predictions are gloomy, but not necessarily correct if we get enough conservatives -- who say what they mean and mean what they say -- into both houses of the Congress. We need to try.

cruz-vs-establishment-600

Beyond that, and also beyond whether the apparently archaic word "integrity" has been removed from the congressional dictionary, even RINOs might reject a few of Obama's left-wing judicial appointees, and that's important. Spending reductions? Maybe. Perhaps a Senate majority might even agree with a Republican controlled House.

If the Republicans take the Senate, they will sit on their fat behinds and play with themselves. They won't do squat, but they will sell out to the Donkeys at every opportunity. Especially if the current list of scumbags are reelected (including McConnell). Senate Republicans, with the exception of a pitiful few, are as worthless as tits on a boar: McConnell, McCain, Graham, et. al.

If GOP takes the Senate, what happens?”

Nothing, absolutely nothing will change, nothing.

If you mean govt will continue to grow, become more despotic, and less accountable then you are correct.

But a lot will happen.

Which GOP are we talking about? The Ted Cruz wing, or the McConnell post turtles?

"C'mere you Tea Party people! I'm gonna kick your butts!"

What will happen?
The "Republicans" will do everything they can to please Obama and HIS Democrats. The "Republicans" are terrified of being called "racists" by the Democrat Party American media so they will trip all over themselves to kiss Democrat Party ass. I'm really sorry to have to say things like this but the "Republicans have not said or done anything to convince me otherwise.

NOTHING...

The media will drumbeat how HORRIBLE it is that repubs aren’t being Non-Partsian, or “reaching across the aisle”.

The media hysteria will grow to a fever pitch, and they will lament Repubs threatening to use the “Nuclear Option”.

Repubs will eventually fold to the media heat, just like they did before.

McCain and others can take turns running to the media and stabbing the conservatives in the back.

If McConnell is such a shoe-in, why is he running ads every five minutes on radio and tv here in Louisville. FYI, he is not changing hearts, he is pi$$ing people off.

If the GOP takes the senate it will be business as usual.

With one deadly caveat: AMNESTY

If we take the Senate this year, the Senate Dems will -- as they did the last time the GOP had control -- simply filibuster everything across the board. The difference now is that the Dems set a breathtaking precedent by passing Ocare on reconciliation, and another in using the nuclear option against the filibuster. The Republicans have to be ready to play tit-for-tat.

But that's only half the game. Obama still has the veto. So for two years, even if the Repubicans man up and cast the hard votes, nothing will pass (unless Obama surprises everyone and comes to the table).

So ... the real issue is: what is the best strategy for sweeping the table in 2016? If the congressional pubbies play rope-a-dope, they will infuriate the base, including most here. But if they spend two years passing politically polarizing veto bait, they risk kicking away the 2016 presidential election, with no offsetting legislative gain. That will be a very difficult tightrope to walk.

Well that's good. One less thing.

I heard stories of McConnell people pulling up Bevin signs and replacing them with McConnell's. People there just need to toss that turkey.

Seriously, what they need to do if they retake the Senate is return to regular order. Start by passing a legitimate budget and get rid of all these continuing resolutions.

If they want to return to the old days, don't even pass a comprehensive budget, but pass individual department budgets and send them to Obama one by one.

Then make the 2014 mid-terms about fiscal restraint. Make Obama veto fiscal restraint.

This will set up the race for 2016.

I agree about regular order.

We need to repeal and replace Obamacare. Obama will veto that. We can try to repeal the individual and employer mandates, but Obama will veto that too. We can defund it, which would create a crisis because Ocare has already destroyed the individual insurance market, but we can't replace it unless Obama signs something, which he won't.

We can try again for private investment accounts in Social Security and a transition to a fully funded system, but Obama will veto that as well, and the dems will again demogogue the issue. We can nickel and dime other spending cuts, but most of the money and all the budget growth are in entitlements, so nickel and diming doesn't get us very far.

We can try for tax reform. I suggest term limits; given the level of disgust with Washington, I think that's a no-brainer politically, and good policy as well. (I favor a twelve year limit: two Senate terms, and the equivalent in the House, with a sitout of at least one full term before running again.) We need to rebuild defense, restore a manned space program, do something about infrastructure, etc., and these things will all cost money. I's suggest school choice, both as good policy and a wedge issue against the dems. But adding it up, given Obama's veto and the explosive character of several of the urgent issues, it will not be an easy two years.

Meanwhile, the patience of the ritual purity crowd will be exhausted within 90 days, and people will be calling for the heads of the Republican congressional leadership, whether Boehner and McConnell are replaced or not.

What an incredible mass of Debbie Downers and Defeatists threads such as this bring out. It a good thing such pessimists and defeatists weren’t running the American Revolution and working toward building of the Republic and our Constitution.

I’m not sure whether you people depress me or make me want to barf more. In any case, I’M ASHAMED OF YOU IDIOTS.

************************************************************

And nor are they won by those who try to SPREAD defeatism and giving up in the midst of the battle. And the 2014 primary election season IS a battle in our war to reclaim the Republic.

"If you mean govt will continue to grow, become more despotic, and less accountable then you are correct."That is exactly what I meant.

No matter who is in power the democRATS or the RepubliRATS, all they do is get more and more real patriots moving to Maine and supporting secession.

Yeah, yeah, an election will fix everything. We know. Zim bam. Zap pow. This time the McCain’s, Graham’s, McConnell’s, and all the other potato headed GOP turncoats will suddenly catch the fever and fight for truth, justice, and the American way. We know they will. Sure....this time they mean it.

Most of us don’t even get a vote in the thing. I don’t, and my senators are McCain and Flake, horrendous traitors, but very typical of the Rino chorus. But the heck with that. We should all march along with people like you who bang your GOP drum, believe the myths, and scream “defeatism” quite loudly at anybody who doesn’t.

I’ll bet you loved Mitt Romney too.
