It was funny. My wife (a huge Wheel fan) and I were watching that episode. She was born and raised in Mexico, mind you. When the contestant said that, she asked me “what college student doesn’t know how to pronounce Achilles? I have known it since I was 12 years old.” I explained to her about AA admissions. And then he went on to make all the other errors (luckiest player ever), every one as a result of no education. He was a nice apparently bright kid — just ignorant. So why was he in college? Somewhere a qualified candidate was dealt out.
Little did we know it would be the #1 story the following week.
I knew how to pronounce it as well but we actually covered world history and mythology in school. Plus there have been several movies about Achilles.

Yes, I specifically remember that IN GRADE SCHOOL.
The bigger question is: how did this guy get into college? We all know the answer and THAT was the conversation he re-opened. Thumb on the scale does no one any good.
Hell I’m a high school drop out and can run circles around a good may university grads on this sort of thing.
