ARKPORT, N.Y. Were officials in the Arkport Central School District being petty and vindictive in their treatment of children whose parents removed them from Common Core testing?
ice creamIf so, they went about it in the worst possible way by giving an ice cream treat to the third through sixth grade students who took the tests, and denying those who didnt.
Parents of the opt-out kids were simply exercising their legal rights, and theyre angered that their children had to pay the price in such an obviously nasty manner.
After all, The fair and equitable distribution of ice cream is a very serious matter to elementary students.
The school superintendent tried to explain away the controversy, claiming the slight was unintentional.
Very sorry it was taken in the light that it was taken, Superintendent Glenn Niles said, according to WLEA News. We try to do a simple token, as weve done every year that weve ever tested, and this year was no different. We just had more kids that didnt take the tests, and therefore, it was a little bigger deal, so we will evaluate what we will do in the future.
As if he had no idea that small children might be upset when their classmates got ice cream and they didnt. If Niles was genuinely surprised by the reaction, he has no business working around youngsters because he clearly does not understand them.
Niles and the school principal said they were very upset about the community reaction to the ice cream scandal.
Some of the things said about me, about Mrs. Dewey (the principal), and about the school are really just plain ugly, Niles said.
Dewey indicated she had been threatened and was worried about the safety of her family, the news report said.

Kathleen Sebelius is probly thinking to herself, “Dammit! Why didn’t I think of that? Crap I’d probly still have a job.”
Well ... maybe not the very next step, but it is the inevitable end of the Leftist dream: opposition will not be tolerated and must be punished to the greatest extent feasible. Today, we deny you ice cream, tomorrow you go to the wall.
Liberal, Union scum-bags shouldn't even be allowed children.
If you don’t eat your meat, you can’t have any pudding.
Home School...then truth can be taught.
You can’t have any pudding if you don’t eat your meat.
What’s next, having children put their heads down and pray to Obama for a piece of candy then when they pick their heads up a piece of candy will magically have appeared on their desk.
It’s important that young Marxist indocrantees learn the vital lesson that “some pigs are more equal than other pigs” early in life.
How very exclusionary of the communist indoctrinators.
Is this a John Semmens satire?
The school superintendent din’t think that the kids would care? Or, that the problem bcame apparent only because more kids didn’t take the tests this year? As if it didn’t matter (or that they’d notice less) if there were only a few kids affected.
That’s the liberal way, play ball or no ice cream. I would guess that these kids will get more out of this valuable lesson than anything those teachers could provide in the classroom.
The will learn that people who profess the best intentions may have ulterior motives. They will learn watch people actions, not what they are told.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream!
Now if they denied them Nutty Bars they all would have gone bananas!
We live in a weird world.
” We don’t need no education
We don’t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey teacher leave them kids alone
All in all it’s just another brick in the wall
All in all you’re just another brick in the wall ”
Pink Floyd
Weird or just plain stupid?
Both.
Probably was low fat michelle o approved ice cream.
Undermining the ‘let’s move’ for the ‘let’s test’?
