SEALS "liberate" tanker: more than meets the eye?
The Thanks Project ^ | 3/18/14 | Steve Berman

A platoon from SEAL team 2 boarded and retook a pirated oil tanker in the Mediterranean.

Fox News reports this matter-of-factly, and even brought in former SEAL Chad Williams to explain it.

Maybe I am living in a media-amped Jack Bauer kind of fog, but I can't help thinking there's more to this than meets the eye.

Why would the US do any favors for Libya after the Benghazi debacle? Are the SEALS now available for hire as a mercenary force? I wonder what they charge per job?

A group of around 30 men from Navy SEAL team 2 approached the Morning Glory oil tanker using rigid hull inflatable boats and used ladders to get on board. Two AK-47’s were found on the ship, but no shots were fired.

I would think that the sight of 30 SEALS climbing aboard would be enough to move the bowels of the most fearsome pirate. But, two AK-47’s? These pirates would be outgunned by the gate guards at a NASCAR event.

I can't help but think there was more than oil on this ship.

I thought that I was the only one who wondered why the Libyans were outsourcing their foreign imperialistic intervention to the US Navy.

Funny that the NorKs canceled the ships registration - what, did they realize that a rogue sea captain might get them into a shooting war?

Or did they know that whatever valuables it had were already offloaded for delivery to their Iranian partners? I do want to take offense to one blog statement - two AK-47's would be outgunned by the average Nascar crowd after the so-called security check.

Maybe I am living in a media-amped Jack Bauer kind of fog, but I can’t help thinking there’s more to this than meets the eye.

The ship was docked at the port under the flag of North Korea, but officials in Pyongyang told the Associated Press they had canceled the vessel’s registration after being notified that the tanker had been loaded for export in defiance of the authorities in Tripoli.

So US Navy SEALS were doing a favor to Libya by retaking a ship loaded with oil, for which Libya would get no revenue, a ship formerly sailing under the North Korean flag, in fact, under that flag when it docked in Libya.

Why?

Why would the US do any favors for Libya after the Benghazi debacle? Are the SEALS now available for hire as a mercenary force? I wonder what they charge per job?

I don’t know what it would be, but the attack was made “on orders from President Obama”. This is the same President Obama who skips most of his national security briefs, including the one reporting Russian T-80 tanks rolling into Crimea.

But he might have been holed up in the Situation Room watching this one unfold live on satellite link video.

Okay, either I’m being a bit paranoid, or I’m ahead of the new cycle here. Either way, I have this off my chest, and maybe one day we’ll see if my hunch is right.

I was kind of thinking the same, but unless somebody dies...oh wait...even if somebody dies, we will never get the truth.

Maybe those rebels had something on there to sell that had a O sticker on it.

I think I heard on Fox News that this operation was directed from the white hut (as if 0bama and gang could find their butts with both hands). Hussein trying to prove his Mom Jeans and frilly panties don't get in the way? Better than WWIII with the russkies.

What’s that thingie that’s coming down the seal’s right front flipper beginning at what would be a ‘shoulder’ joint?

I’m talking about the linear thingie that begins at the seal’s shoulder and extends down the seal’s flipper. Not the flipper thingie that’s at the tip of the seal’s flipper.

Obama has no problem sending in the military to rescue a Libyan oil tanker, but was unwilling to send the military to rescue Americans being murdered in Benghazi.

What happened to the “no blood for oil” crowd?

No outrage? No protests? No bloodied Code Pink hands?

Just crickets.

Eastern Libya (including Benghazi) has declared its independence from Tripoli. They have set up their own government and oil company. They have also cut off most of the revenue to the weak government, money needed to buy off the malitia groups who could topple the government at any time.

What the US had done is enforce an embargo on Eastern Libya and turned $36 million dollars worth of oil from Eastern Libya over to the cash strapped Tripoli government.
